Reaching for the Next Level

Mods - move this thread if you would like. I figured this forum received some traffic, so here is where it landed.

I received the "Reaching for the Next Level" packet from the Department of Athletics this afternoon. It outlines the Department's strategic plan and goals for the future and presents the grim reality that faces our student athletes - we have the smallest operating budget in the MAC and our performance in the MAC has been average (women) and nearly worst (men) over the last 5 years.

The information also highlighted the academic accomplishments of our student-athletes - highest graduation rate in the MAC, average GPA higher than the student body, etc. It also listed the lofty goals for academics, on-field/court performance, and fundraising.

Overall, I thought the information was very well put together by Greg Christopher and the Department of Athletics. They have set some pretty lofty goals and I hope we can achieve them.

I recieved mine last week and also thought it was very nicely put together. I was impressed with the academic achievements and the lofty academic goals set for the athletic program.

At the same time I was very disappointed to see our recent all-sport finishes in the MAC and being at the very bottom in spending. It is apparent that some work needs to be done in both areas. The facts were clearly presented with little room to exagerrate. The tone was positive and hopeful at the same time in spite of the negatives. The goals set seem resonably attainable although a challenge and will push the department in the right direction.

Mr. Christopher is doing an excellent job of sending the message in a professional manner. I hope those with the means and interest can step up for facility renovation. Those of us with le$$ were encouraged to attract more members to the Falcon Club and wear the brown and orange more often. I was impressed.

Remember that there is no such thing as a small donation. Every donation is appreciated.

If 10 people donate $10 that equals $100.

If 10 people donate $100 that equals $1,000.

If 10 people donate $1,000 that equals $10,000.

I have no doubt that there will be some individuals who donate more than $1,000 and that is greatly appreciated. But all donations will be greatly appreciated.

Even if all you can do is encourage one more person to join the Falcon Club, that's $100. For those of you who are getting ready to graduate in May or August (or you are a current student who is going to be around for a while yet), remember that you may join the Falcon Club for only $50! What a bargain!

transfer Thanks for the $$$ explanation---worked Falcon Club drives? you are so right about everyone giving what they can. It all adds up. Plus each year if a person feels & is able he/she can increase his/her membership. Not everyone can give the $1000 or more but it all helps. I encourage any student to join it will give you a different perspective & connection. There are alot of projects on table which will stretch giving or make people choose as to where $$$ goes.
