We've posted our weekly hoops report at MAC Report Online and our feature this week concerns the winning perecentage of home teams during conference play in the MAC.

We crunched the numbers for every division one conference and the MAC leads all conferences with a home team winning percentage of .711 during conference play. No other conference has a cumulative conference home court winning pct at .700 or better. What are the reasons? We're not sure and we got some comments from a couple of coaches around the MAC to help us out.

Also this week:
--BracketBuster Hangover
--Tournament Seeds if season ended today
--Coach of the Year poll results --- and new poll for this week: Player of the Year
--RPI and SOS for every MAC team

Oh, well, let's see here. Teams wouldn't happen to be winning so much at home because of the refs homering the road teams with bad calls would it?

Don't know about homering, but Buffalo seems to have kept that home court winning percentage on the rise.

If you've been to any of our road games in conference, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm all for blaming the refs but unfortunately, 46 point losses aren't the refs fault.

It's not just us, and its not just one game. Look at Toledo. How in the hell do you win 18 straight in conference at home and have an 0-14 road record IN THE SAME SEASON?!!! That just doesn't happen without a little bit of home help/road non-help from the zebras.

I don't think last night mattered one iota. However, I have been to a few road games this year and there is no doubt in my mind that a large part of the MAC home dominance is the officiating. Most of our fans complain about the calls we get in our gym, but I assure you on the whole the MAC officials seem to favor the home teams. At WMU specifically Reitz would travel nearly every time he caught the ball and it was only called once or twice in that game.

Same thing happens at home for us. I notice a lot of non-calls that go our way at Anderson.

The officials in the MAC are, on the whole, awful. From my experience the home teams get a lot more leniency than the road teams. I'm not sure why, but I do think it contributes quite a bit to the home records teams in the MAC have. Obviously didn't mean anything last night, but over the course of the season, it does.
