One of the Biggest Mistakes I Have Ever Made ...

was driving over to Buffalo last night through a freezing rain/snow storm to see that game. Wow, it was awful. I was excited to see BG play, especially after their upset of Kent, but boy, was I disappointed.

I can honestly say that was the worst basketball performance I have seen in a long time. This was my first time seeing the team this year, and I know we really aren't as bad as we played last night. As it was said in other threads, it got to be just plain comical. There were stretches where BG simply couldn't run an offense. My buddies kept asking me how we beat Kent. As I told them on the way to the game, MAC schools seem to beat each other up at home and the UB game wasn't going to be easy, but I never thought it would get that out of hand.

I was also a little surprised to see some of our players appear to be overweight and out of shape. There were numerous times where our guys were back on defense with their hands on their hips looking to catch their breath.

Oh well, it's one game and we've got move on.

Hey '94, I didn't go because of the weather and didn't want to drive by myself.

Next time, PM me in advance and we could make the drive together.

I think we can now draw one simple conclusion, and one question, about this season.

BG at home = good
BG on road = bad
BG at a neutral site = ???

Sorry to hear about the experience. While I wasn't there last night, I completely understand what it feels like. I’ve been to many similar road trips where afterwards I asked myself why the hell I did it. When living in Virginia, I made the trek to West Virginia for the BG/WVU 100-54 debacle. Aside from also losing that game by 46 points, it was somewhat similar to the loss to UB. Last night, BG was coming off the heels of beating a Top-25 team and you felt they’d be riding high, and in 1999 BG was off to a 6-1 start to the season with its only loss at Northern Iowa in OT. Both games ended in a 46-point defeat. Go figure. I’ve plowed through snow storms, like on the way home from a BG/OU game at AA two years ago where we came back from 13 down with about 3:00 to play to force the game into OT, only to lose it in double OT after we allowed a last second tip-in on a free throw at the end of the first OT. Got stuck in a snow storm in Kent, had a car break down in Toledo, got vandalized at CMU…all in loses. Oh, the memories.

i posted in another thread, but me and my friends drove 5 1/2 hrs from BG to watch the game. Not what we were expecting. I am just glad I was there to support them no matter what. I would be there if they were 0-20. I just love supporting my falcons!
