Sometimes these things are real political and I have more faith in the Free Press and News ratings but Dee Brown as expected was named to the AP's 1st Team Class B in Michigan. As I expected, I did not see Calhoun's name in any listing for Class A.

So whats the deal with Calhoun? He just not have very good stats for the year? I'm liking this D.Brown kid more and more. We need more quick guards than can penetrate ,score or dish.

You know I couldn't find stats on Calhoun. His HS team Southfield finished at a mediocre 13-9, although they were 10-2 in their league. No individual stats at MaxPreps.com. Did find that Southfield lost to Dee Brown's Country Day team 63-60 early in the season. Brown went for 25 with 9 rebounds and 4 assists in that one.

The all-state selections have always mystified me. So many times, the names on those teams never surface in D1. Other times, kids will show up strong as D1 freshmen after never appearing on any all-state lists at all.

I think the voting probably is highly political. What's more, it's hard to believe that most of the voters do even a vaguely decent job of keeping up with who's-who in a state.

I have a feeling that Dee Brown will be a plug and play freshman much like Erik Crawford was. When you lead Country Day deep as a senior AND a junior, that says TONS about your readiness.
