All-time Starting 5
I apologize if this thread has been done before, but it might be a good topic for the offseason ...
The other day, a friend of mine asked me to name the top five players in school history. We debated for quite a while. Obviously, guys from the last decade like Antonio Daniels, Keith McLeod and Anthony Stacey came to mind (my friend came to BG in 1995, so he never saw BG play before then). I never saw Butch Komives or Nate Thurmond play, but from all accounts, they'd be in the top five (perhaps in the top two).
Lots of other names came up as well, but I'm just curious: who would you name as BG's all-time top 5 players?

Since 1980, since it is about then where my vivid recollection takes me...
1st Team:
Antonio Daniels 6-4
Keith McLeod 6-2
Anthony Stacey 6-4
David Jenkins 6-5
Colin Irish 6-6
2nd Team:
David Greer 5-9
Joe Faine 6-5
Marcus Newburn 6-2
Shane Kline-Ruminski 6-8
Brandon Pardon 6-1
It's fun to think about any current Falcons who, if they have really good years, could make this group.

I just vaguely remember a healthy John Flowers (I was very young) and he was phenominal...
This is a fun discussion. I'll put my team together soon.

Finally, some love for Big Lenny! Play the block, rebound and had a great midrange jump shot (remember those?). Now if only I can get some Netter love...Rollo83 wrote:

some UC fans have the same problem with its programs greatest player, too many people refer to the Big O as Oscar Robinsonfredthefalcon wrote:It's Thurmond. No excuses for a BG fan to not spell it correctly for the greatest player in BG history even if you weren't born yet.Rollo83 wrote:First Team

I like Factman's picks. Lots of great players over the years. My dad swears by Butch Komives and Nate Thermand.
My fave player of all time is Anthony Stacy...just loved watching him play.

Here's a list from Bill Frack who has been watching BG basketball for about 7 decades:
Darrow
Komives
Thrumon
Sheer
Bianci
Cash Piatkowski
Daniels
Personally, I loved watching Brandon Pardon play. My wife just liked looking at him. She thought he was cute.
