BG/Depaul Predictions

Man, it's just four days until our season-opener and this board is still pretty quite about BG hoops. But....I guess with football having another great season, that's a good enough reason for the time being. I thought I'd get us started on a topic with a season-opening prediction.

Without seeing us play since last season, and without even getting a sneak preview with some exhibitions this year, it's extremely hard to predict what might happen this Saturday, even judging off what we have now being we are Ron Lewis-less. That being said, I have a feeling we might start the season off on the wrong foot. I know Quemont Greer is out for Depaul, but this is still a pretty good team and we're on the road. I hope we win, but if we don't, I hope we go out there Saturday and prove we're going to be a team to deal with in the MAC this season. On paper, Depaul is going to be one, if not the, best OOC team we'll face. I'll be interested to see who steps up to help us fill Lewis' 17 ppg from last season.

I really not sure how the team will fare this season. I have not kept up with the team since McCleod, Pardon, Matela all graduated. Some of the posters have mentioned that Coach Dakich has a bit of bad luck with injuries and transfers.

BGSU33 that score sounds reasonable. DePaul hasn't exactly been blowing out the competition during the exhibition season. With Greer out, they are going to have to rely on their defense to make a difference. Sounds like BG has some of the same questions that DePaul has in terms of where the scoring will come from with loss of players.

We've got a chat scheduled on WeAreDePaul.com on Thursday night at 9 pm central with a local beat reporter to preview Saturday's game. You are welcome to join. Can't wait for Saturday!

I'm really at a loss as to how good I think BGSU will be this season. I really have no clue. It ranges from horrible to pretty good. I don't think there is anyway this will be a great team but knows. So much was expected last year yet they played like a bunch of stiffs most of the time. I would like to see things turn around fast. BG can't take many more of these mediocre and subpar seasons. Dakich told me that the early season might be rough, so i'll go with him on that one.

I really have no idea what to expect, nor do I feel I have enough factual basis to make a prediction.

That being said...

BG - 74
Depaul - 66

I'll be there. Taking tomorrow off, making a long weekend of it. I'll take the camera and maybe my laptop and report in on how things look.
