Seriously, this guy is crazy. Obviously a new member. Dan Dakich is one of the best things to happen to BG athletics....I dont even need to spend my night writing about why!

You're about 3-4 months too late on this topic.

How about an "amen" for getting rid of YOU??
If you're going to come in here and bash an active and SUCCESSFUL coach at BGSU, you really need to put up some facts to back your opinion. This website isn't dumb like some of the other places you may have visited in the past. This website polices itself and weeds out dumb and unfounded commentary and commenters like yourself. We have intelligent members who know what they're talking about.
Plus, why call yourself "rockne" if the "Tough guy show and motivation tactics" aren't what you like??
OH, and we've WON MAC championships with Dan Dakich as our head coach... or maybe you don't remember that far back. Heck, it's been all of 4 years!!
Get a life, get a clue, or get out of here!

rockne, just go back home to the Toledo board and write about Joplin and his thugs. You will feel more accepted there.

calm down - i'll tone it down - just testing the waters - glad to see i'm among intellects - the style in which my comments were presented was undoubtfully ignorant, but were not without reason
i've had a lifelong involvement in athletics - coached boys varsity b-ball for 3 years - a good friend of mine started for BG for 4 years under the current coach.....so i know all about the current coach - not the most impressive resume i realize, but a successfull one nonetheless - but my intention isn't meant to impress though....just to let you know i'm not as ignorant as the impression my initial comments left
i'm not a BG alum and i'm not into thowing around stat.'s (i can....i just choose not to) -but i am a fan of bg basketball and the mac and believe that my experience qualifies having an opinion -
some of my good friends who are coaches or players believe/practice this style too and......yes....they do experience some success - it doesn't mean i don't like them or their style - its just a style that is outdated - it does bring some success (as I know it has brought the current bg coach) -
just like everything else in life.....better ways have been discovered.... there are better ways to motivate/coach - i respect him for ......sticking to it - but that doesn't change the fact that it limits bgsu basketball -
again - it will bring some success - and i do find it entertaining
i do apologize for the disrespectful tone in my initial comments, however i don't think that mr. dakich himself would argue that he is a crybaby or a bully - and i don't think that he would avoid throwing disrespectul....."x-tra's" into describing something he was in disagreement with

i'm not a joplin fan at all - and you are right....his players are a bunch of thugs.......i know most of them

Dakich is second all-time at BGSU in winning percentage (.563)... He has brought "some success..."
I really see NO reason to even consider giving him the boot right now. He's got a couple years left on his contract, he's got a great set of recruits and he's got a group of guys that are playing like HE wants them to. There may not be the talent of Duke or UNC in Anderson Arena, but according to Dakich, they're a bunch of guys who like to play together and there IS senior leadership this year. Those are two elements that have been missing from Falcon hoops.
This year will be a real test of the Dakich system. Personally, I think you can win with a bunch of guys who WANT to play hard and WANT to play together and have decent talent.
I understand having personal issues with DD's coaching style. I don't like how Willie Nelson plays music, but I can't deny his success, nor do I think he should be banned because I don't like him.
I appreciate your sticking around thought, rockne. You certainly made a strong first impression... I still think you need to argue your point a little better though, if you want to win the Dakich supporters over to the "Dark Side."
Welcome aboard!
