2010 Recruit.

Post by Falcon137 »

Anyone have more info on this kid? He would be a great get, although our odds are slim. Dayton and Xavier are highly interested and Ohio St. has also shown interest. But you never know with the Stroh Center going up and all the other strides the hoops program is making.

No good. Too small or not athletic enough for falconboy.

What position are you talking about? If your talking PF , yeah not going to be able to the job done physically at 180lbs. But he'd do just fine at SG or SF.

They say he needs to work on his ball handling. However, if he becomes a 6'6 shooting guard who jumps out of the gym my guess is he is not coming here.

Lets not forget the kid is a junior in HS. At 6'6 he could play PF in the MAC at 200 pounds which is where he should be by the time he gets to college. With his leaping ability he would be great in a running offense.

At 6'6 you can play PF if you weigh 190+ if you are a great athlete. I would rather have a 6'6 190 PF who jumps great compared to a 6'6 230 PF who is just a body underneath.

Really a preference thing. I want to throw as many athletes on the floor as possible. I would be fine if in the future we were; 6'1 ; 6'3 ; 6'4 ; 6'6 ; 6'7 as long as everyone could run and jump well.

Plays on a very good Northland team in Columbus. Jared Sullinger committed early to play for Matta and is the star. Sullinger's dad is the coach and implements a very authoritarian style. Suspended his son for the state tournament after expectations weren't met on the grade card.

Weatherspoon plays a variety of positions for Northland. Not quite the athlete you would assume from a 6-6 2G. When I've seen him play, he gives valuable minutes at 3 and 4, plays a little two, but they have a host of talented players.

He absolutely has a frame to add more weight without sacrificing athletic ability. Very good in the open court and would be a nice addition. Does not have the "butt" for lack of a better term that Nate Miller has, but would be that type of player at the 3. Can get to the lane, handles himself well on the boards and plays solid D.

Northland will only get better the next few years as they were very young and Sullinger as much as it pains me to say (being a Buckeye verbal) is an absolute stud. As technical as a HS rebounder that I've seen in some time. He uses his large frame well and always keeps the ball high and protected. In the right offense he could be very imposing.

He's starting his junior year, so he has a lot of time to gain weight, grow, and scare away or attract the majors.

I suspect that Coach Orr will be targeting true post players w/ 2010 scholarships.

Yeah....from everything I've heard he is getting higher and higher on people's list.

He visited Dayton this past weekend and I believe has also made trips to Xaiver. He also has pretty much made it be known that if Ohio St. offers that's where he is heading.

If we can somehow snag him he could be a potential program changer.

Ohio St. appears from what I've heard to be locked up on schollies far into the future but who knows. Even if OSU doesn't offer him Xavier will probably swallow him up if not some other BCS program.

It will be interesting. Dayton and Xavier are both going after Weatherspoon and also A. Payne from Dayton Jefferson. Payne is being heavily recruited by OSU more of an insurance policy for Koufas I think. If Orr could win a recruiting battle with Dayton and Xavier that would be HUGE, I just don't see it happening.
