Chris Knight?

Anyone have any news on Chris Knight?

I am not hear to spread rumors, but I came back to Perrysburg to attend a funeral. I watched the game last evening and noticed Chris Knight only played 5 minutes. While in town I went to Bob Evans this morning and ran into some people that I haven't seen in years. We got into talking about the football disaster last Friday and how well the Men's Basketball team is playing. I told them I watched the game at Ralphie's in Perrysburg and I said it looks like a very promising year.

I told my friends we may have won the game in Minnesota if Knight and Miller played. Then they said something that bothered me. I was told that Chris Knight is in the doghouse for attending numerous off campus parties over the summer and even this past weekend. Was also told he has been missing classes.

Can anyone confirm this????? I know he did something over the summer to warrant a 3 game suspension but then he played in our home opener, and then only a few minutes last evening.

Anyone have any new information.

You have plenty of hearsay. While I don't have inside info, this is what we all know:
- Knight was suspended for 3 games. That suspension is over and he's now playing. If he was continuing to break rules, he wouldn't be playing.
- Knight was injured for most of the early practice season and some of the summer. So, he's still getting in shape and into the flow of things. That explains the limited minutes.

Beyond this, I don't see a need to worry unless we hear something definitive.

Off campus parties? I can think of a few former players who would be proud of the little pup.

Yeah- what's that about? I lived off campus and it was pretty much a fulltime off-campus party. That's a problem? Shouldn't you have to misbehave at an off campus party or is just attending a bad thing? They've gotten strict over the years, I guess.

You are a hundred percent correct. The going to parties and missing class are completely false. I am very close to the Knight family and I have know Chris personally for years. He is definitely trying to get himself back in game shape and get over the mental hurdle of his injury. He has been in BG for three years now. I seriously doubt that he would wait for his breakout year to screw around.

Well if you are that close and that is accurate then that is GREAT news. The people have breakfast with live down the street from Coach Orr on the golf course but they haven't talked with the Coach in several days. They heard this from someone who said they saw Chris at a party. I am glad you think he wouldn't get in trouble. Thanks for the insight.

So what the hell is wrong with being at a party? I doubt you can find one athlete on this campus or any other campus that hasn't attended a party during the season. Isn't that part of what college is all about? Attending a party, doesn't mean you have to do something stupid and get in trouble. I do not get your point!

That is one reason we ALL attend games, so that we can celebrate a good victory! You obviously didn't hang around Mark's in the good ole days of BG hockey!

No crap. Why do you have to live like a monk just because you play basketball? College basketball just a sport.

On that note, it seems to me that college players face much more strictness and scrutiny in this regard than pros. It will be interesting to see if the high school-to-Europe route becomes a trend.

I wish we could see the Chris Knight that we saw in his first three games as a Falcon from last year more often! Where has that guy disappeared to since that season-opening tournament at UC last season? Knight has talent written all over him, but sometimes it seems like he lacks the hunger of intensity or something. I'm not knocking him, I'm happy as hell he is a Falcon. It just sometimes seems like he's sort of just going through the motions at times out there and we all know what he's capable of doing when he brings it.

Hey while we're at it, why don't we delete this one too. It's not much less ridiculous or slanderous than the last one.

Knight is almost 22 years old. Even if he were at off campus parties over the summer, he's of legal age to be consuming alcohol. Who cares?

I agree, hearsay and libel about a particular player is bogus and should be dismissed and deleted. I'm against internet censorship, but when its attacking of an individual player through hearsay and other "well my best friends, uncle, who once met Orr at the coffee shop, heard from his neighbor"...lets get real. The situation was handled by Orr, I have faith he handled it properly. End of the matter.

Exactly! I've never been able to quite put my finger on it, but you're right. It almost seems as if he lacks that killer instinct, competitive vigor that most D1 ball players have.

Obviously he wants to win, and I'm not knocking his effort from what I can tell. He just kind of seems like his heads in the clouds at times on the court, ya know? Almost like at times he's flatfooted, and snaps back into and goes 'oh s**t, i'm playing basketball'

I'm willing to attribute this to being inexperienced at this level. Hopefully he can get back into proper shape and get out there to help fight through a rigorous MAC schedule.
