The Grizzlies fired the former BG assistant today...or maybe yesterday.

He might have to slum it as a D-1 assistant again.

Interesting, I did not know he was a former BG guy. For those of you who grew up in the mid 70s the interim head coach is perhaps the greatest player in Dayton history, Johnny Davis.

I'll take Rosevelt Chapman as the best University of Dayton player ever. Jim Paxson and Hank Finkel are in the discussion as well.

I can't believe I didn't notice this sooner. Chapman or "Velvet" as he was known went nuts for the last half of his senior year, including putting up over 40 on Wayman Tisdale in the '84 NCAA tourny and taking Dayton to the Elite 8.

I'll take Johnny Davis for the fact as a pure freshman he lead his team to the Sweet 16 and gave 7 time defending champ UCLA perhaps one of the greatest games ever (lost in triple OT). He also left after his junior year to go to the NBA. because of family issues, something that was never done back then. He was lightning fast.

But your right, Paxson and Finkel were both great players. Negele Knight was a good one also.
