Academic honors for Larson & Jakubowski

Jakubowski, Larson Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
Bowling Green junior center Marc Larson and sophomore point guard Joe Jakubowski were both named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.
With just five players selected to each of eight district teams, Bowling Green was one of only four schools to have two players selected in the university division (NCAA Division I) and the only school in district 4 to have multiple players.
In order to be eligible, athletes must have a 3.3 cumulative grade point average or higher, be at least a sophomore, and have been at the same institution for at least a year. Larson has a 3.96 gpa in engineering technology and Jakubowski has a 3.53 gpa in business. The duo joined Belmont’s Andy Wicke, Tennessee Tech’s Frank Davis, and Western Michigan’s David Kool on the district 4 team.
Larson played in each of the team’s first 18 games, starting 12 times, before an injury ended his season. He averaged 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game and ranks second on the team with 17 blocked shots. He also shot 84 percent from the free-throw line on the season.
Jakubowski has started all 21 games for BGSU at the point guard position. He ranks second in the Mid-American Conference in assists and is averaging 8.4 points, while recording 21 steals. Jakubowski is also shooting 38 percent from three-point range.
Both players will now be placed on the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-American. The Falcons are currently 12-9 on the season and 5-3 in MAC play, riding a season-high four-game winning streak.

Well, I'm glad Larson is a smart guy because basketball is not his future...honestly, he shouldn't be playing D-I basketball

LOL.....this pretty much sums up about 75% of the recent threads on this message board. It's a good thing Larson is REALLY smart, because he is the root of the attendance problem. LOL Looks like it is time to head back to the Cavs game by game breakdown thread. IT"S AWESOME!!!!!! HAHA.

It's rare to see a thread on the men's Hoops forum anymore that doesn't turn into pointless garbage. Everything is empty-headed negativity or pointless bickering. I've been wondering what the point of this forum is. You ought to shut it down for a few weeks. When you reopen it, maybe someone will have of something worthwhile to read.

Congrats to both of them. At this level of basketball, you don't see many players who are talented enough to make millions in the NBA, so its nice to see that they are making the most of themselves in college. Great job, guys!

He is a formidable big man in the MAC. Plays solid D, gets you some boards, there are much worse backup C's in the conference.

He's obviously a good guy to have around, and I commend him on his efforts in the classroom, but as for backup C's in the conference....first, this guy was starting a lot of games....he's not a starter at this level, simply put. He's got no offensive game and is far less athletic than most players in the conference. I mean, put this guy up against Tillman (OU), Dierkers (MU), or even a crappy team like EMU and Bowdry, he will get worked. I don't want to be a downer, but I honestly think we can be a better team without him. Does anybody remember how well Marschall played as a freshman? He and Knight deserve the added minutes.
