2/21 vs Canisus

So the bracketbuster game is this Saturday...

Are people excited? Or this game just a nothing game. I am excited mainly because I wish I could watch BG men play basketball every day, but I'm not to excited on the opponent. Canisus is currently in last place in the MAAC at 3-13 and overall 8-18.
They Lost to Akron by 10 points and lost to Buffalo by 5 points.

Let's hope BG doesn't look past them like I am thinking they did for eastern. But should be an easy win?

P.S. Little fun fact for you all. Lindsay Goldberry's brother Robert is on the Canisus team. He was at Buffalo last night for the BG/Buff Game.

I think the team could be excited about playing in the Bracket Buster, but could also be disappointed that we got a very sub-par opponent. I'm hoping for a great game and a great crowd. GO FALCONS!

Well, we better win...that's all I can really say right now.

I'll be there...kinda sucks that we did get suck a sub-par opponent. if we would've gotten someone with an above .500 record we likely wouldve been on one of the espn networks. but whatever, either way i would have ended up at AA so i guess it really doesn't matter

After losing to Eastern Michigan, there is no such thing as a "sub-par" opponent. BG just needs to take care of business, and not worry about what laundry the other team is wearing or what their record is.

Let's make it a 3-0 sweep of the City of Buffalo on Saturday.

Even if they do look past Canisius and lose, big freakin deal. This game has zero impact on our chances of winning the MAC and making the NCAA tournament. Honestly, maybe we should lose this one just so we'll come out pissed off and on a mission vs Kent like we were against Buffalo following the loss to EMU.

It does impact things because, if we win the MAC tourney, we will get a horrible seed in the NCAAs. That would be four losses against teams with a 300+ RPI (Savannah State, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan and Canisius if we lose). The Selection Committee would balk at that and put us as a 15 seed so we could serve as a whipping boy for Michigan State or Wake Forest

We haven't been to the tournament since 1968. Now we're worried about seeding?

Canisuius (ka-knee-shush, ka-nis-e-us...which is it anyway?) is definitely a game we should win. It kind of stinks that they ended up being our "bracket buster" but as previously stated, after dropping the ball to Eastern at home, this is a game in which they need to come out and make it statement.

It would be even nicer to win a tournament game though

While that is true, like TG said, we haven't been there since 1968, lets get there first before worrying about that kind of stuff

What's wrong with hoping that, should we get there, we are in a good position to not simply lose out in the first round?

There is nothing wrong with hoping for that, but we still gotta get there first. I just think there are more important things to be discussed (rest of MAC play and the conference tourney) then something that isn't assured at the moment
