Nate Miller

Since this is a forum and all I would love to get everyone's opinion on Nate Miller. In my opinion, there is not a kid in the MAC I would rather have on my team than Nate. Sure, he missed a couple big free throws down the stretch, but he plays the game with such intensity and enthusiasm it is sometimes unbelieveable. He is undersized and busts his behind for everything. He rallys the team and he is the epitome of a leader on the court. Not to take anything away from any of the other guys, but he won the game tonight for us, something he has done on more than one occasion this season. I've only been a fan for a few years now and only date back to days of Almanson and Reimold, but there has not been a kid who wants it more than he does suit up for the Brown and Orange since then...hopefully he can take us all the way to the top this season and get somewhere we haven't been in a long LONG time...

...and if anyone wants to make fun of me, yea, I have a man crush on Nate Miller...

Truth,
Yeah man, I agree 100%. We have had better players, Samarco, but no one with the heart of Nate.. The man has put this team on his back and is taking us closer and closer to a MAC regular season title, I didnt think this could happen so soon under Orr

ROLL ALONG! :o

Good points...Nate drives me crazy with his FT shooting but he is all guts. His all round game is very solid.

Bowdry, Bramos, Fisher, Tillman, Kool are a few I would take ahead of him. There are others. He's got a decent all-round game (absent the free throw thing).

Maybe I got a little ahead of myself....

Bowdry? No, he's young still, little raw, doesn't bring to the table the leadership Miller does. Bramos, ok, heck of a player, great shooter, can be inconsistent, but you don't want the ball in his hands with the game on the line as an opponent, I'll give it to you there. Fisher, OVERRATED. It is tough to lose two really good bigs inside and replace them with a freshman in Anthony Simpson and Brandon Parks (LOL), but he's not doing what he did last season, different position, but I'll take Miller. Tillman should be the POY in the MAC, I will not argue with you there. Kool has been a sensation since he was a freshman, plays great defense and is the leader of his team, but they too are struggling this season.
At least Tyrone Kent didn't make the list of people who are better than Nate

Miller is a great all-around player. He can play the post at 6'4", he can play guard and hit the 3, he can pass, rebound, and do everything except shoot free throws. Can you imagine if he was an 80% free throw shooter? He might be an All-American :D

Nate was stone-cold bad assed tonight. He carried us.

He's playing like a 1st team All MAC candidate.

Intenionally left out my UT choices but I would say KEnt has a wider array of skills- his inconsistency hurts him but the same can be said for Miller. No comparison in athleticism but in spite of his eye-popping physical skills, Ty can get absolutely lost in the background-

Amos is a lot like a smaller Miller- he can give you points, rebounds, defense and sometimes all on the same night. Like Kent, inconsistency has been his problem as well as poor decision making (turnovers and MORE turnovers) and he, like Miller, struggles at the line.

If your glasses aren't brown and orange I suspect you would take Kent over Miller, maybe Miller over Amos but Ty would then break your heart about one night in three.

If this team had a true point guard I would absolutely love Nate Miller's game. As it is we ask him to do too much, and it's a shame. He's a damn fine player, and he's the only one on this roster that has shown the willingness to take the ball in crunch time. He can be a bit turnover prone when he's the primary ball handler, but he can also get to the rim against almost anyone. He's a tough as nails rebounder for a 6'4 kid, as well. The free throw shooting is mind boggling, but it's pretty much expected now.

His improved play as the season has gone on is the reason why we had our long winning streak and why we're now in a position to compete for the division. He's a great leader and a good defender as well. Until somebody else shows the cajones to take the ball in crunch time this team will live and die with Nate Miller. The past couple months we've mostly been living, and that's a testament to how well Nate's played.

What's crazy to me is how Nate can knock down a contested three-pointer, but then he struggles to hit a simple free throw the way he does. Maybe he should consider stepping back.....that said, a helluva performance tonight.

At this point, I would have him try a jump shot for a free throw. What the heck does he have to lose?

Certainly worked for Hal Greer. He said that shooting jump shots for free throws helped his jump shot and the jump shots he took helped his free throws. Hard to argue wih the results.

Are we allowed to have someone stand directly in front of him while he shoots? If so, I think you might be on to something here....

Fisher and Tillman are the only two MAC players that I'd take ahead of him. Both are former league POTYs.
