2009, a great year for Falcon basketball...

Post by bgsufalcon24 »

Our men are 10-4 in the MAC and having their best season in years, possibly on the verge of the NIT or NCAA tournament.

The women are 14-1 in the MAC and 25-3 overall, ranked #25 in the nation this week, certainly headed to the postseason.

We're getting a brand spanking new facility within the forseeable future thanks to our gracious donors.

And yet the student body (which has generally ignored both teams despite their greatness on the court), only seems interested in bitching about $60

Unbelievable. They say they don't care one way or the other about the issue, they just want it put to a vote, but if they were happy with USG's original resolution they would have never bothered with a protest in the first place. It's amazing to see so many students get their panties in a bunch over $60, when a bunch of them go out and drop money like that in a weekend at the bars. God forbid any of them ever go to a game.

The women's team is doing even better than the already high expectations, and that is great.

The men's team is greatly exceeding moderate to low expecations, and even the idea that they could win a regular season title, or NCAA bid in such a ho-hum year is amazing.

The new facility is like some strange dream coming true, to the point that it is hard to believe. And the owners of the eateries across the street from the stadium have to be utterly thrilled. From DB's to Bob Evans, not only will the teams have a great new place to play, but it should prove a true boost to the local economy having the stadium located there.

As for the students, oh well. I'll be crass and say they don't count for much in this. They'll gripe, they'll have zero impact on the building or the fee, and in a few years they'll be gone and forgotten, along with their complaints. It might make them gnash their teeth, but that is the basic reality. They need to go back to enjoying their college years, and spending less time acting as if they have some meaningful impact, aside from yearbook notes and reunion remembrances.

And the best part is almost all of them won't ever have to pay the fee.

I'm so happy its spring break for me in 3 to 4 hours, I need to get away from that insanity for a couple days

Here's the weirdest part of all, I didn't even recognize this. The protest article was on the front page but on page 4 in the forum section, the president of the Resident Student Association, Adam Kowalski, basically derided the students that participated in the protest. He does so on the grounds that they did not take the initiative to be active on campus and joined a bogus "coalition" so that they did not have to do any of the work themselves.

I agree with Cincy, I have to get out of this place. This is insane.
