The Bowling Green men's basketball team will hold an NIT selection party Sunday night at Fricker's in Bowling Green beginning at 8:45 p.m. The NIT Selection Show begins on ESPNU at 9:00 p.m. and will be shown at that time.

(*-Unless OSU has a gymnastics meet televised.)

That's a cool idea. I know they wish they were having the viewing party about 3 hours earlier, but it's kind of cool that they give the fans a chance to share in the postseason excitement with them.

Another thought I had RE: first round opponents... I don't know that Notre Dame is a lock for a tourney bid. That would be a close regional match-up and a great chance to go in and steal one from a big boy.

I think Notre Dame is definitely NIT bound. That would be cool to play them. Since it is Notre Dame, they will be on an ESPN channel.

personally I want a game with Kentucky, but getting an ND or Penn State wouldn't surprise me

NITology has BG an 8 seed vs Penn St...I'm hoping to see BG in Georgetown, but doubt Gtown gets a hoem game.

Is there really an NITology?

yep
and on second thought, I would much rather play at vt, that would be easier to get to for me...Gtown and USC would be my second/third option

I would like to see them against Cincinnati (if they even get a NIT invite) or Kentucky.

The only team I don't want is Kentucky in round 1. I'll take them in round two all day.

The reason being is this week is the start of the Sweet 16. Long story short. In KY high school basketball (no classes, just 1 state champ) there are 16 regions. Each champion advances to the Sweet 16, that's the official title and all games are played at Rupp Arena, making it impossible to have both the Sweet 16 and an NIT game the same week.

The rumor down here is that UK would play the game in Memorial Hall which seats about half of what Rupp does. I believe it's where the women play their games. With UK fans paying in upwards of $20k for tickets, BG wouldn't be allotted much and it would take all the fun out of playing them if it's not in Rupp.

So hopefully if we see them it's in Round 2.

1st round will be at memorial. It has been updated and should hold a little more than 10k. Tickets for the 1st round at UK are being sold 1st come, 1st serve and cost 33$. No mention of where the second round would be played. My bet would be they'll try to push it to the March 23rd date if we beat Creighton so that it could be played at rupp. It is also UK's spring break this week, so if the second round was played this week the majority of students would be gone. Not sure what ticket demand will be like, doesn't sound like most fans are happy about playing in the NIT.

Wow, prophetic. Assuming we get to round 2 of course. Creighton is going to be extremely tough to beat
