SOS help

Post by It's the Journey... »

So I thought about this as I was watching North Carolina dismantle Valparaiso at the United Center at the beginning of the season but thought it would be better to bring up after the regular season.

The MAC is continually blasted for having teams with weak strength of schedule, mainly because the "big boys" either will not play us or will not come to our houses to play without 2 games at their place in return. So why not have the conference help level the field a bit. What if all 12 schools put money into a pot each year? What if that fund were used to attract 4 "big name" programs to a central location (Cleveland or Toledo)? Now what if four MAC team were to play one of the 4 games through the weekend (saturday and sunday)? Now we come to the fun part. What if the deal was the "big" team got a return home game from the team they played but had to also visit that same MAC team? That would be a three game series consisting of a home, neutral, and away game for each MAC school.

That may be confusing and I may not have explained things clearly but I also think you get the idea. Do you think something like that would help MAC exposure AND strength of schedule for ALL MAC teams?

Sounds interesting. It would also be nice to put a sponsor in front of that, but for the love of God, don't let Kraft sponsor it like they do the women's MAC tournament. I'd hate for such an event being called the Kraft "Easy MAC" invitational.
