Oh my.....

Rest in peace, fellow falcon. Thoughts to friends and family.

A sad day indeed. One of the greatest to ever don the brown and orange. My condolences to his family and friends.

Wow. My thoughts as well.

His senior season was ridiculous.

It is a bit of a shame he never had his number or jersey retired, posthumously would be better late than never, but I think he deserved more.

A great Falcon and a nice man.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I never had a chance to meet him myself, but did get to know Shane pretty well. A sad day for Falcon hoops...

Butch was one of the greatest college players to come out of Toledo. BAck then BG was able to land a few of the Toledo schoolboys. Today they almost always automatically head to the Big Ten or elsewhere.
If I remember correctly, he could lay down the free throws as well as LP.

Yep... he once made 74 out of 75 free throws in a stretch.

I can't stress it enough, if you're a fan of BG hoops, and if you're reading this forum, you are at least to some level, read this article. Hack did a great job:

I'd call it a must-read for anyone who follows the program.

Anyone that follows BG, really. Even if you don't follow hoops, he was one of our true legends. If it wasn't for Thurmond's NBA success, Komives might be considered the greatest basketball player ever at BG and that's saying something.

A sad day. Condolences to his family, and a great opportunity to remember how great a player and hard a worker he was.

What a great column by Hack. I always enjoy reading his columns, whether they are about BG or not. Especially about BG though.

TG: Great perspective and spot on.
