Just a thought

Post by renorvis »

Ok I know there has been little buzz on the site now that it is summer. But just to stir something something up I have been thinking about what the upcoming season may look like. First, we have all heard that we may lose CK for the first half of the season. We were counting on him to carry the scoring load this season. Maybe he will come back during conference play and have an outstanding season who knows! But in the meantime who will carry the load??? I personally think our bigs should get the nod. We have Otis and Marschall who can do some damage on the block. I think we should run through these two and our guards can be freed up a little. JMO. Second, what is our starting lineup going to look like? I'm thinking
PG-JoJak
SG-Thomas
SF-???/CK
PF-Marschall
C-OP
The 3 spot is kind of a tough one because of the unavailability of CK(supposedly). There are many directions that we could go in: we could start another guard and run a three guard lineup or we could give Calhoun a shot. Who knows.
Then our bench:
Dee Brown
Jordon Crawford
Darion Goins
Marc Larson
DaVon Haynes
Luke Kraus
Danny McElroy
We are very young on the bench with four freshman, but if they have the mindset like Thomas had last year then they will be okay.
As of right now we lack the leadership that was provided by last year seniors. But I think if we play as a unit and develop great chemistry then we will done fine. There is enough scoring to spread around so no one has to wear themselves down. I think we can improve our communication on defense to better help ourselves. I remember last year ther were times where there was no communication and some guys were left on an island by themselves and its cost us two points for the other team.
I will leave this discussion. Enjoy
:)

JoJak and Thomas in the backcourt would not work well together IMO. We need more athleticism at the position. Here is what I envision.

2009
1 Jakubowski 6-2 180 Jr. Brown 6-2 So. Crawford 5-6 Fr
2 Goins 6-3 204 Jr Kraus 6-2 185 Fr
3 Knight 6-7 210 R-Jr. Thomas 6-6 So Calhoun 6-7 Fr
4 Marschall 6-7 235 Sr. McCelroy 6-8 Fr Haynes 6-7 Fr
5 Polk 6-9 280 Sr. Larson 6-9 245 Sr.

2010
1 Jakubowski 6-2 180 Sr. Brown 6-2 200 Jr Crawford 5-6 So
2 Goins 6-3 204 R-Sr Kraus 6-2 185 So
3 Calhoun 6-7 218 So Thomas 6-6 Jr
4 Knight 6-7 210 R-Sr.
5 McElroy 6-8 So Haynes 6-7 So

2011
1 Brown 6-2 200 Sr Crawford 5-6 Jr
2 Kraus 6-2 185 Jr
3 Thomas 6-6 Sr
4 Calhoun 6-7 218 Jr Haynes 6-7 Jr
5 McElroy 6-7 Jr

It sucks that McElroy is going to shrink an inch between his Sophomore and Junior years.
