BG is getting together with Kent State to create a special Centennial Cup. I think it's one of the most creative ideas in a while.

Re: Centennial Celebration
I really like this idea. BG and Kent State have played each other so much in many sports over the years. Both schools founded in 1910. GO FALCONS!!!

Re: Centennial Celebration
I think it would be even cooler if it was an annual thing. I know we've got the annual trophy in football that BG and KSU compete for, but making "The Centennial Cup" a yearly thing would be pretty cool. I know Purdue and Indiana compete for something like this and I'm sure there are other rivalries that do so.

The fact that no one laughed or commented on that the first time you said it PROBABLY means it's not funny.VDub26Falcon wrote:They should do it every 100 years!

But it was a different thread under a different topic...I thought it was the way I typed it the first time that kept people from laughing.

Re: Centennial Celebration
The only thing there is that we do already play for a given trophy every year. And on top of that, the word "centennial" implies 100 years, so it would seem odd to play for the "Centennial Cup" every year.TG1996 wrote:I think it would be even cooler if it was an annual thing. The Land Grant Award just doesn't have that same kick.

My aforementioned example, IU and Purdue, also play for a football trophy each year, in addition to the all-sports trophy. I think it's something that would be perfect to do with UT, but Kent makes sense, and since they're kicking off a trophy challenge anyway, why not make it annual?

I don't disagree with you there though. But if it were me making the decision, I might look to make an annual all-sports trophy with UT over doing one with Kent. (Which you already mentioned, I know. I was just stating a preference.) Either way, I do agree an all-sports trophy with a "rival" school could be really cool.
