Most exciting non-conference game looks like Xavier. Conference play starts Jan. 9 at Akron. First conference home game Jan. 14.

Clear the Ohio Turnpike! There is a good chance I can make 6 games in BG this year. Love the weekend home games (if only the students did, but that's another story).
Are there no exhibition/D-II games this year? Strange.

Xavier will be a good early test, it would be great to go down there and beat them. Wisconsin Milwaukee is a good home game, as is St. Louis. I like the schedule.

Wayne St. is DII, correct?

Correct...in the GLIAC in fact. I like this schedule too. Was hoping for a few more home games before winter break though seeing as this is my last semester on campus.

That five game road trip could be tough! I'm not worried though. Coach Orr will have the guys ready to play!

A Big Ten team should be on the schedule every year. We have to win the MACC (yes it can be done) to get a bid with this schedule unless we beat Xavier and win 4 out of 5 on that December Road Trip from hell. Canisius (Buffalo), Temple (Philly) and Fordham (NY).
St. Louis is okay and Xavier is a good test, but its not a schedule that would get a bid without the MACC.

WHAT I LIKE:
Every nonconf D1 program on this schedule is a good, solid D1 program. Unlike years past, we aren't loading up on a bunch of RPI 275 programs. Every program is at least decent. We can win half of our nonconf games and start MAC play around RPI 125.
WHAT DISAPPOINTS:
The 30 day stretch thru December with no home games. (...I'm wondering if we are taking road games this year to have the return home game next year in the Stroh...hmmm)

I hope not, because the Stroh won't be ready for two years.

that 30 day stretch is the only time I'll get to see them @ Temple and @ Towson...
now watch some BG or UVA get a bowl that time and totally screw me over

We would have to win the MAC to get a bid with any schedule.

I agree with these thoughts. Its a solid sked and it is tougher than it appears. But we need at least one hallmark game to have a shot at an at large. I think the new Comish will have a greater focus on getting multiple teams into the Dance. Each team needs to its part to support that objective and we are not pulling our weight here. Definitely NIT at best (which is unacceptable) unless we win the MAC.

I don't understand the need to have a Big10 team. We don't have to play any Big10 teams to gain credibility. A win @ Xavier is better than a win at any Big10 team not named Purdue or Michigan St. This isn't football, you don't need a win over a BCS team to validate yourself. As long as we keep playing top tier A10 teams like Xavier and maybe throw in a Dayton or out of the Horizon league Butler you will be fine.
Everyone does realize over the last 10 years Xavier is one of the best programs in the country? That would be a marquee win for the program.

Speaking of winning the MAC - does anyone have the scoop on when they will raise the 2008-2009 banner? D-II Wayne State? Wisconsin-Milwaukee? MAC opener v. Buffalo? I gotta be there for that!
