Grant can we please get the phrase "Kevin Netter" to come up with the little ### of obscenities in here? LOL
I'm sorry, Kevin was a good kid, and a nice guy, but also a waste of talent. I hope he puts his head together and makes something of himself, but from my personal experience with him I'd say its a longshot.

Wasn't somebody here saying he would be drafted to the NBA?
Basketball is so big in Finland, I am not surprised he washed out.

That was me who said that. I also said that after a few years of playing over-seas I wouldn't doubt he would get picked up by an NBA team if he developed. If he got cut, there is no way he is going to be developing. I think his biggest problems on the court were strength and aggression. He was a very aggressive player that got called for a lot of stupid fouls for it. I don't remember how many times I saw little PG's come up and strip the ball from his 2 hands down low. He has talent and it needs work.
I'm sorry Hammb, but I disagree that he was a waste of talent. He scored a lot of points for BG to help win some games and did the best he possibly could. If that wasn't high enough for some of your standards, so be it. I think he just needs someone to work with him and really get him to understand the game. He could be a really great player if he put his mind to it. I lived next to him in Offenhauer and hung out with him a lot so I will glady stick up for him.

I liked watching Kevin play when he wanted....I don't agree he did the best he possibly could. I don't think he made the most of his opportunity but that's just my opinion.
"He could be a really great player if he put his mind to it."
Exactly....the potential is (was) there.

McMetz, you make my point for me, right here. The kid was one of the most talented players I've seen here at BG. His physical talents are right up there with Daniels & McLeod. Kevin never once proved that he really wanted it. I had class with him. I hung out with him. He is a good guy, and I mean him no ill will. In fact I'd love it if he proved me wrong. I like Kevin, I really do, but he never made himself into the asset he could've been for BG hoops. And as you said, I believe the biggest reason is that he didn't put his mind to it.
In the class I had with Kevin he didn't put his mind to it either. He graduated, so he was obviously doing something right, but in that class he showed exactly the sort of laziness and absent-mindedness that he exhibited on the court. I remember well the day he came in and announced he was throwing a party because Dakich left for WVU, and he wouldn't be riding his ass any longer. Kevin was here for 5 years, with Dakich riding his ass for everyone of them, and not once did he ever realize Dakich wasn't just singling him out, but trying to get the most out of him. I hope he some day realizes what he has and what he has squandered, and gets his act together. Physically the kid's got NBA game, but he just hasn't put his mind to it yet.
I hope, for his sake, that he puts his mind to it before he loses those physical gifts.

Looks to me like you AGREE with Hammb. He may be a great person, but he severely lacked as a basketball player.

I hope Kevin can find something in life that will inspire him to give his fullest effort.
Basketball didn't appear to be it...

Actually I took him saying that he was a waste of talent in the wrong way, my mistake.
DD was ver hard on Netter and to the point where he got into his personal life. I'm sorry but when coaching a player and he does something wrong on the court, you blame him and his play, not what he is doing off the court.

You can't compartmentalize things that cleanly--depends on what he was doing off the court. Coach is hard on guys--that's no surprise, especially when they are selling themselves short.

He was indeed let go by the Finnish team prior to their season. I read it somewhere on the net awhile back, didn't save the link...
From the look on his face in this rather odd picture, he didn't appear to be too thrilled to be there anyway.

if you average more fouls than rebounds as 6-11 senior in all your MAC games that is not good and therefor IMO a waste of talent
This is interesting.......
