Would a post McCleod era all-star team beat the McCleod-Pardon-Matela-Klassen team?

I was just thinking about this squad and the post Those guys era and wonder who would be on an all star BG team from that time and if that team could compete with That team.

Do I get Ron Lewis?

My Five on the Floor:

Ron Lewis
Martin Smarco
John Riemond
Josh Almonson
Nate Miller

No true point or center, but this team would score! Lenny would have a fieldday in the paint unless I get Otis for size and... well SIZE - to keep him off the block (and bring Riemond off the bench).

Hmmm... fun.

Interesting question. I think I would put my money on the McLeod team to win. That McLeod team was better at SG, PG, and C than we'd be able to put together with an All Star team from the last 6 years. Lewis or Samarco would be the starting SGs, but what's forgotten is how good of a defender McLeod was as well. I'm not so sure that either of those guys would score at will on him, and they were both brutal on defense, McLeod would have a field day with them. We haven't had a PG that could play offense or defense as well as BP did, that would be a mismatch of Epic Proportions for the '02 team. OP would almost have to be the starting Center on that All Star team (or I suppose a more mature Netter? versus the first year Netter that would be on the '02 team?). Matela would absolutely ABUSE Otis. Lenny's post moves were pretty good, I just think Otis would be in serious foul trouble against him all game long.

I do think the All Star team would have the advantage with Reimold > Ryan and Almanson > Klassen, but I don't think that'd be enough to overcome the huge advantages the '02 team would have at the guard & center spots.

It is kinda sad to think that in the last 6 years we haven't had more than 2-3 players that could have possibly started on our '02 squad.

I don't know about Riemond- he didn't score a single point against UT in his entire career.
