It must be Dakich's fault. After all, he was the only coach that had players suspended or quit on his watch, right?

You're right, Dakich had a ton of people leave the program to focus more on their academic careers

We have lost so many players in recent years that I can't even keep track of them anymore. It has simply become a given that we will lose players ever year after year anymore. Although, I must say, this season provided a new wrinkle as we lost both of our transfers "to" BG. I can hardly wait to see how we lose players in the offseason or next year. #-o

We lose a practice body. He wasn't much of a factor in games he was on the court.

It's not about WHAT we lost in the player. It's about how it reflects on the program as a whole. Are we just recruiting D-Bags who don't know how to listen to coaches or is there something bigger here???

He transferred here and didnt play. Why would he stay to not play. It opens up a schollie. If he cant crack the lineup with this group than we are lucky we get another schollie. By my count we have 2-3 more to give out, depending on Calhoun

How many here bothered to read the article? (by my count only 2). Goins wasn't on scholarship, so he wasn't taking one from someone else, and it doesn't free up one for someone else. Also I'd like to know at what point a person becomes a D-bag for deciding to focus on academics (you know the main reason for going to college) and realizing that trying it was a financial burden to play when not on scholarship. I'm sure this is just another dead horse, but every team loses 1 or 2 players if not every year than every other.

Well said, PGY.

I figured that the news he was not on scholarship would send tremors of excitement up the spines of those "schollie-obssesed" AZZers.

Second, he decided basketball was not his future and he should focus on that. Seems like a fine decision to me.

It was always a "big deal" when Dakich lost a player..of any kind.

Please, quite the generalizations and your shtick of bringing up Dakich and brandon every time something happens. It was old 6 months ago. To some people, yes it was a big deal, can't deny that. However, To many of us, no it wasn't always a "Big deal". Coaches change in college sports, deal with it.

edited to remove cowboyjoe's comment. Don't want to disturb the many of you with him on their "enemy" list.

If he wasnt on scholarship then I dont see why not. Seems like a waste to me. Why not give him one for this year. I would have left too if they had a scholarship available and just chose to eat it instead of give it to me. Is Karaffa on scholarship? If not we had 12 schollies wih 1 to give.

Regardless we have 2 schollies available for next year and potentially 3 if things font pan out with Calhoun.

FWIW, Goins is the father of a young child. The decision makes even more sense given that.

Your ignorant, idiotic, stupid, numbskull comments reflect poorly on you. You do not know Darion and you are not aware of his situation. To even insinuate that Darion is a "D-Bag" is a poor reflection on you.

Darion is a young man who decided academics need to take priority in his life. He should be commended for making a tough decision, not chastised.
