Dakich bobblehead

Post by BleedOrange »

I'm upstairs straightening up my office, and I finally notice my old Dan Dakich bobblehead sitting on my bookshelf. Can't say for sure how long it's been there.

Not sure what to do with it. Can't see keeping it, don't want to throw it away. Stuck.

Any ideas what to do with it? Anybody want it? S'pose it'll have collectors value someday?

Have the same problem, except I may as well keep it.
When I look at it I just remember all the good times in Anderson Arena. I remember when Dakich would put on his coat backwards, all the great players from that time and for some reason I keep thinking of Miami's coach Charlie Coles and the baboon faces he would make when he got mad (which was always most of the game) and it just makes me smile.

Speaking of Dan Dakich, here's a link to a description of his career exploits and his current career as a radio show host and Big Ten Network basketball analyst . Not that any of this helps with the bobblehead.

I know for a fact that Coach Dakich reads AZZ. Maybe he will give you input.

I'll take it off your hands...I love me some bobbleheads...I mostly have Cleveland Indians giveaways but I don't have anything BG related. Going to any football games this year? I could pick it up at a tailgate.

Still reads it even with his new position? That's pretty cool. :)

This is how I know he still reads this forum. I posted this comment awhile back

FWIW

I am listening to the Dan Dakich show right now. A caller just asked him what he thought of this situation. He said he didn't hear about it, but said he would fire all the assistants for not knowing the score of the game. He said he would have went bezerk.

This was in regards to the BG - UWM scoring error. I posted it in the thread. Within 10 minutes after I posted the above, Coach Dakich called me out by my screen name and gave out my real name over the radio. He stated that I have been ripping him for years.

I lost respect for him.

Dan reads the forum and takes shots at the University because he can't let it go and move on with his life. It's kinda sad, really....

Love Dakich. Unaware of him ripping BG on Indy airwaves, but he loved BG while he was here. Unfortunate ending all around, and he made his own bed, no doubt.

Still love the guy. The year he had Reimold, Netter and two other schollies or something like that and those guys played their guts out, was awesome.

If anyone has one they want to unload, I'll definitely take it. PM?

Just make sure whomever ends up with your DD bobblehead sits it in the window, facing the parking lot.

Re the article Grant linked to....The last two years here were rough so Dan "moved on".....when you phrase it like that, it almost sounds as if Dan decided to leave. He wasn't told to go...or to be fair, that his contract wasn't being renewed....he just...left.

Good luck with the broadcasting gig Dan....I hope you can develop a healthier perspective about your time here down the line...
