Closing the House that Roars memorabilia
I got to the Adrian exhibition late and never left my seat. Are they selling any memorabilia for the last year?
I would at least like a t-shirt. Prefer a section of bench from upstairs or flooring. The ultimate would be to rebuild the whole darn arena in my backyard to host HS tournaments and have my own arena to shoot around in (I'd rent it out for Falcon Fantasy Camp or personal shoot-arounds too).

Since the Arena isn't being torn down I wouldn't really expect too much destruction.

Not sure this is correct... it WAS the party line a few months ago, but I think the University stance on this may have changed recently... Gymnastics will no longer be using Anderson as their "home" down the road... it's pretty valuable real-estate too. We'll see. My gut tells me the building will be gone by 2012.BGDrew wrote:Since the Arena isn't being torn down I wouldn't really expect too much destruction.

And, Yes... there will be an auction. Details coming in the next few months!

So, where are you going to put your Anderson Arena bench, Grant?ZiggyZoomba wrote:FalconTurf wrote:I got to the Adrian exhibition late and never left my seat. Are they selling any memorabilia for the last year?

Yes there will be auctions. There is an event being planned called the BIG Event. It is March 5, 2011. I am a member of one of the committees planning the event. The details will be released at a later time, but save the date for this event. The plan is to "Close the Doors to the House that Roars" in style.

This is the state of Ohio we are talking about. 2012 is still a little too early for that. Actually, there is still a chance that Gymnastics will be using the facility as a practice facility for a few years.

I love Anderson Arena. The sounds, smells and the overall environment inside and out. But when you replace it why would you keep it. It only makes sense to me that it must go.
Men's Gym served for PE classes, as a practice facility in a pinch for basketball, for years for baseball and club sports. It had a purpose. Through the years it has been replaced with the Rec Center and Fieldhouse and it's future should be in doubt as well.
Unfortunately it makes no economical sense to maintain these facilities. I cannot understand why a nice area for gymnastics practice was not included in the Stroh Center with the arena utilized to host events. This would have been the most practical in the long run even though the upfront cost would have been slightly more.

Re: Closing the House that Roars memorabilia
Had it been men's gymnastics, or the sport itself used a ball of some kind the logical would have happened. But since this department doesn't seem to give a damn unless it's a male sport or uses a ball the team has been in limbo for more than 18 months on where they will practice once the kind (cough, cough) people in Eppler toss them out. My information tells me that putting a practice area for women's gymnastics came into the conversation about 6 months AFTER the final design of the building was established. 18 sports, 1 team; only if you use a ball or have a dick!FalconTurf wrote:I cannot understand why a nice area for gymnastics practice was not included in the Stroh Center with the arena utilized to host events. Not quite accurate..........you should know what this AD is doing to some of the "men's" sports also........believe me, it is not only the women. If the AD would give the media the TRUTH, the public would be absolutely outraged, but it will all come out eventually!
This is just another example of his PPP!

Re: Closing the House that Roars memorabilia
Let me be clear on one thing, I AM NOT hanging this totally on the door of Greg Christopher! My tin foil hat is up in the closet and not on my head. If anyone things this is a problem that is new they have been living in a dream land. I can come up with examples from the past two athletic directors just as easily as the current one. Athletic Directors change here at BGSU, but the support staff remains largely unchanged. That is where a good bit of this problem comes from. Factman, I know you have your reasons for disliking the current AD and I wish you would share them in a calm and fact supported way sometime. But as of now, I am not ready to string him up by the big azz falcon at the Stroh Center.factman wrote:Not quite accurate..........you should know what this AD is doing to some of the "men's" sports also........believe me, it is not only the women.
