I'm Sorry, But This Is UNACCEPTABLE!

Post by ZuluWarrior »

Coach Orr seems to be a very decent and good man and I hate to say it, I really do, but it is absolutely time to start looking for a new coach. Coach Orr did acceptable with Dan Dakich players. Now we do not put a competitive team on the floor and with a new building next year we must expect more, much more. We don't have the talent to compete in Division 1. I'm not sure we would compete in Division III...I'm not being sarcastic.

Completely agree!! We are moving into a new arena next year but if we don't turn this thing around the fans will still not come out to support the team. Thank goodness we still have women's basketball putting up W's

Pathetic effort. Pure and simple. Your down 21 at half, and last years starting backcourt sits on the bench until the lead becomes 30.

Shooting seems to be the big issue. That's less difficult to fix then athleticism. I am not completely in love with Orr but I am certainly not ready to start calling for his head at this point in the season. As far as them sitting on the bench. Craw is better then Jaku.

South Basket

Post by transfer2BGSU »

What is it about the south basket and not being able to get the ball to fall in? Numerous shots seem to go in and out of that basket.

You know, I thought it was kind of funny how certain people on here were trying to rationalize things after the Michigan game. This whole forum was basically a giant orange glasses covered spin zone. Now it's time to say what was painfully obvious then, and is now.

WE STINK.

We have no talent. We can't defend. We can't rebound. We especially can't score the basketball, and we're making it look comically difficult doing so. Orr may be a decent defensive coach, but he can't keep players in the program and can't recruit. The game on Thursday night was two hours of my life that I'll never get back, just completely boring, miserable basketball. It's going to be a very long season in a year where we shouldn't have to take more misery after football's weak existence.

And that's the last word on this popsicle stand till next year. Maybe by then we'll be able to recruit since we will actually have a real basketball arena.

Come MAC play we should be fine. If we can correct the help D and keep getting the looks we got in the first 15 minutes. We are much more athletic then last year. I am encouraged by Seelys minutes tonight. How did he look outside of the stat sheed.

The one thing I would like Orr to do is pick a starting lineup and go with it. I think its got to be Craw-Brown-Thomas-Calhoun and Black and go with it. It has to be a big blow for Jaku to get benched so that will have to work itself out internally with the team.

The thing that concerns me most is that our starting PF and C had a combined 1 rebound.

I agree with all of your statements Globetrotter, Seely shows some flashes but this team seems to be picking up right where the football team is leaving off.

Globetrotter fyi, OSU is ranked in the top 10 in both football and basketball! They really suck!

I've never been enamored of the Orr hire. He seems like a really decent guy and mentor of young men -- but his history shows he doesn't recruit well, and the results are pretty predictable when you can't recruit well.

With a new facility comes an opportunity to open recruiting doors that have been closed for a long time. I really don't see Orr being the person who can open those doors and bring BG basketball up to the level it should be.

Losing by 36 to a middle of the road A10 team who was coming off a loss to Robert Morris is pathetic.

I think we have been sold a bag of goods that is rotten. I personally have to question if its the coaches. What happened to all the great recruits the Sebo Center was going to bring in to BGSU? I am not nearly as involved as most of you are here but merely a concerned alumni. Something stinks!!!! :x

That is manifestly not the case. Removing his conference championships at Siena and BG, because they were won largely with players recruited by the previous coach, he still has a good track record from Seton Hall. I think BG would take:

2001–02 Seton Hall 12–18
2002–03 Seton Hall 17–13 NIT 1st Round
2003–04 Seton Hall 21–10 NCAA 2nd Round
2004–05 Seton Hall 12–16
2005–06 Seton Hall 18–12 NCAA 1st Round
Seton Hall: 80–69

Even the 04-05 drop off wasn't abysmal.

This season has been wretched so far and criticism is deserved. But to be fair, Orr's track record has been one of overall success.
