Re: Stroh Updates?
I am curious to hear from any season ticket holders that have taken the tour of the Stroh Center and your reaction. I thought it was absolutley stunning walking in and definitely has ALL of the "bells and whistles" to go with a modern day arena.
My only concern may be the "loading form the top" design and all of the steps you need to go up and down to get to the restrooms, concessions and to and from your seat, especially if you are seated near the floor. There is one passenger elevator to go up to the concourse level, but my guess is that most older folks or those with bad legs will still want their seats near the top to save all of the steps.
I don't believe there is a "floor level" entrance for the general public, or at least it wasn't shown to us.

Re: Stroh Updates?
From an outsiders prospective (I'm lurking Various around board for talk for the UB/BGSU men Kent ST/UB women DH ) it looks great. I really like that the court will be visible from the concession stands. Looks like it will be a cozy but not so cramped environment. If I where a BG student I'd be disappointed to be moved from the sideline to behind the basket. I'm kicking myself for never making the short trip to Anderson when I was still going to Kent.

I guess I hadn't driven by the Stroh Center in a long time, so I don't know how long the lights have been on, but I had never seen them before. Snapped a few pics!

If this is accurate thats not good. OSU had it that way and it was horrible so they moved it. Not sure if the layout was the same but I would get tickets in that section and move because you just couldnt see, it was too narrow.

Re: Stroh Updates?
Tonight is the first night the lights were on, to the best of my knowledge (I live right across the street!). Also, it is true that they are moving the students behind the basket, which is NOT what was promised during the planning stages. The students were told that they would have sideline seating, but it looks as though the University has decided to renig on that promise...
Re: Stroh Updates?
Not sure where you claim BG renigged on its plan and moved the student section because when the very first drawing of the Stroh Center was available back in 2009 the student section was placed directly behind the basket. Now Greg Christopher did say the fans would be close to the court but their was no mention that it would be students on the sidelines. Maybe Grant can confirm this but I never heard a promise from BG to say the students would be on the sideline. If that were the case the very first rendering of the design would have shown the student section there opposed to behind the basket.

Re: Stroh Updates?
I am not sure I would call it" renigging" as it was more just being very quiet about it. When you only allocate 300 seats ( which have to include the band and cheerleaders) and put them on the end, you are not putting them first, or even second. Very disappointing for the students.

I think you should probably use the correct spelling "renege"....

LOL flip...I thought the same thing.
And also, do you really think they would only offer 300 student tickets to the game? I am sure all the students who want to come will be allowed in. And if they fill up their section with 300 strong (or more) and any remaining spill out into the townies, that would only create a better atmosphere for basketball, no?
