BG up on CMU 28 - 25 4:00 left in first half.
Buffalo lost again today. A BG win puts us in 2nd place

UGH...Falcons lose by 5, 69-64. We can't get over the .500 hump overall.

BG is now currently tied for 3rd in MAC East with Buffalo. One full game behind Miami, and now 2 in the loss column behind Kent.
Personally, I still think BG will win its remaining home games (Akron, Kent, Buffalo). I do not think we will go into Athens or Oxford and win. I believe we will finish at 10-6 in the MAC. That should be good for 3rd place, still behind Kent and Miami. If Kent beats Miami then we may be able to tie for 2nd. Regardless our 10-6 should get us the #4 seed and a bye in the first round.
Unfortunately this was a game BG should have won. We had a 5 min bad stretch and that cost us the game

The real work begins now. We need to win at least 3 of the 5 remaining games to get a top 4 spot in the MAC tournament, with the games against Buffalo and Miami looming the largest.
It would've been nice to get this one, but it just goes to show that you have to play 40 minutes to win, and you can't afford to have letdowns.
What concerns me most is that we're just 1-2 in our last 3 games. (All you that ridiculed me for being "negative" after our close wins against lowly Toledo and EMU, this is exactly what I was talking about, playing better teams and not being able to win). We really need to come out and get a win to start off East play and get the momentum back.

No, we ridicule you for being negative about most things.
I'm still enjoying following this team. Knowing there will be bumps along the way, the road is getting a lot smoother than it was six weeks ago.

Whatever. What some people view as negative, others see as truthful.
At any rate I don't want this thread to degenerate like the one a few weeks ago, the bottom line is that we're still not what I would call a great team, and that we will have to fight for every victory going forward. The road is smoother now than in the nonconference, but we can't afford to let up even a little bit.

Damn! BG led most of the way, but CMU was able to close out. It was a one-point game with under :30 to play. Tough loss, and honestly, a sort of bad one too. I do believe we are a better team than CMU, road game or not. I really thought we were going to be able to go up there and get this one as it was by far the best shot at a remaining MAC road win too IMO. Gotta bounce back.

I have to say the team has exceeded my expectations in MAC play to this point, but obviously the conference continues to be down overall. I was really suprised to see us as underdogs for this game, but Vegas was pretty close to being right on. Hopefully the team continues to get wins, but I think we overachieved a bit to this point, and will struggle down the stretch. The only thing I can say is other than Kent there really isn't another good team. Anyone could get hot in the tourney and sneak in to the NCAA. You never know I guess.....
