Dustin Extreme letter in the Sentinel-Tribune
Dustin Extreme letter in the Sentinel-Tribune
When will Dustin learn that constant complaining about the student body, the fans not cheering loud enough, fans not standing for the game and now this letter in the paper WILL NOT INCREASE OUR FAN BASE!!! All he is doing is upsetting the people around him and now from this letter I am dure he upset even more.
From the Sentinel Tribune 3/4/11
After announcing the closing the doors of The House That Roars you would think that attendance would increase and that every game would be nearly sold out! But that didn't happen at all this year, It seems to me that people don't care about BGSU Falcons anymore.
My family and I have attended every men's and women's game this year except for one. When the Falcons beat Buffalo on Wednesday the arena should have went wild but it didn't. Even before the game was over I saw some fans walk out, and for most of the game a lot of the fans were sitting down and wouldn't even stand up for the last remaining minutes in the game!
For a town that supposedly supports and cares about the Falcons they sure don't show it! So I hope that when the Falcons move into the new arena maybe just maybe people will actually care!

Re: Dustin Extreme letter in the Sentinel-Tribune
While I don't agree with Dustin's lack of tact and excessive use of exclamation points, and he didn't pick the best game (a blowout) for his example, I feel his main point is justified. Compared to most Division I schools, our fans are quiet at games. Very quiet. At both our football and basketball games, there are points in games, such as key third downs, or key possessions late in games, where you would expect our fans to make lots of noise, and a lot of times they don't.
If the game is a blowout either way, or if there isn't a great attendance for a particular game, then I wouldn't expect the crowd to make a ton of noise. But too many times, our football team has attempted to rally late in games (Buffalo game this past year and the 2007 Ohio game are perfect examples) and the crowd was barely making any noise (or worse, leaving) This happens at our basketball games too. Hockey seems to be the one falcon sport that isn't afflicted, as the crowd noise is usually pretty good from start to finish at those.
Now, crowd noise is one thing, but people leaving at halftime or leaving close games early...that REALLY drives me crazy.

Re: Dustin Extreme letter in the Sentinel-Tribune
Apologies for this post before I post it:
When I really get into a game I rarely notice people outside my sightline to the game unless they are right beside me or in front of me.
They say lack of ability to multi-task demonstrates intelligence and I'm banking on this relationship. Maybe most Falcon fans are just too intelligent to multi-task thus choose to watch the game instead of other activities.

I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

Although I understand Dustin's frustrations as I too would like a full house like we had back in the days, but Dustin's constant complaining and preaching and now putting down the local community isn't going to help our fan base. He hasn't posted on this site in a few weeks so I guess that is why he felt the need to attack the community.
Re: Dustin Extreme letter in the Sentinel-Tribune
We have all been there once...ever since Keith left it has been a down-slide for men's games. It's not going to get solved by anyone, especially Dustin. His dad turned around the last few games with a gruesome look on his face as no one was standing up and started yelling at everyone to do so. I tried this once (minus the gruesome face...okay, maybe not) and failed, hence why I don't bother trying anymore. It's not the same environment it once was, and there's a whole generation who doesn't understand how it once was. Even if they watch the videos, it doesn't seem real until you experience it.
I just hope the community comes out Saturday...like it was stated in another thread, this Saturday isn't just about the game.

No..the lies. His family has missed a lot more than one game.Globetrotter wrote: has instead of have? I can see the argument either way.

Thanks for mentioning that Metz. I been to every BG home women's games and all but 3 road games (minus Seattle trip) and I know Dustin hasn't been to every game but one but I wasn't going to call him out. All him and his family do is complain and now he is calling out the community. Pathetic. I truly hope we have a good crowd tomorrow but as of this morning 1500 tickets still remained. Tomorrow is more than just about the current team. It is about 50 years of memories. Curious to see if even Dustin is at the game.

Some of us have learned by sad experience:
Never stand when you can sit
Never sit when you can lie down.
I never knew that posture was what dictated your support, or lack there of, for a team.
