Anyone else notice the first few of 6 new speakers being installed in Anderson Arena last night??!! I sure hope it makes an improvement in the sound quality for the announcing and the music the dance team uses. It's been a long time coming!

I didn't notice them. I did notice that I couldn't understand a thing that came out the announcers mouth. It was awful. Man, we complained about the football guy a lot, but at least you could understand what he said. Maybe after the new sound system we will be doing the same thing with the basketball guy.

We noticed that it was MUCH better last night and didn't have the auxillary speaker on the platform at the south end. My seats are low behind the opposing bench.

It looks like there will probably be two against the north wall (one was there last night), two hanging in the rafters (one was there last night) and then I don't know what the plans are for the other two.

It can't get anything BUT better though!!

I wasn't there last night to see it, but it's good to hear we've added new speakers to AA. I remember seeing those old, rectangle looking speakers hanging in the rafters before. Those things had to be the original ones! Does anyone know if they also added any new amplifiers or anything either? I always thought that aside from the old speakers, that the sound system itself was weak and needed more juice. The speakers I'm sure are a big help, but getting more sound out of them couldn't hurt either.

Walking to class today I was walking by AA and saw a cherry picker lifted up inside. I guess now I know why!

I was there last night and my friends all agreed, the sound is AWFUL. During the dance team, you still can barely make out the music and it's just the same as it's been in the past. Maybe things aren't working fully yet??? I hope...because I noticed no improvement.

Keep your fingers crossed...

That's correct, nothing new was hooked up last night.

The dance team has music? Damn, and all this time I thought it was merely a visual show...

I am glad they are finally getting new speakers in AA, but that won't solve the problem. If they want to make things sound better they will get a sound technician from the college of musical arts to balance everything out. Whoever runns the sound only know how to turn the volume up. That isn't the answer. If you have someone who understands the physics of sound and how the equipment is supposed to work you can account for crowds of all different sizes. Until that happens, they could give each fan their own personal speaker as they enter and it still won't be as effective as they want.

That new tall blonde girl is a really good dancer. I mean she's got some real talent...you cannot teach legs like that!
