Freshmen Impact at BG

One of the things that bothers me is why freshmen come in and take so long to contribute at BG? It seems other MAC schools always have freshmen that make a signifigant impact their first year. I can't remember the last freshman to really have a impactful year at BG?
Here is a list of freshman in the MAC this year that made important contributions to their teams...
Juwan Howard, Jr. (WMU), Matt Stainbrook (WMU), Eric Gaines (KSU), Quinten Rollins (MU), Josh Sewell (MU), Alex Abreu (AK), Nick Kellogg (OU), T.J. Hall (OU), Javon McCrea (UB), Jesse Berry (BS), Tyrea Robinson (BS), Chris Bond (BS), Trey Zeigler (CM), Derek Jackson (CM), Nate Rucker (NI), Reese Holiday (TU), Delino Dear (TU).
I know I could put Cam Black in here but did her really have a "major" impact this year? As I sat and watched all the teams in the MAC Tournament play, a lot of the freshmen didn't look like freshman by the end of the year. Unfortunately, Cam did still look like a freshman.
And, we wasted a year on Craig Sealey. Who was so good on this team that this kid couldn't get 10-12 minutes a game? How are you good enough to start two games and then have more than a dozen other games where you don't even see action?
Maybe its the kids we are recruiting and they aren't ready to play? Anthony Henderson had to be redshirted..."needs to get stronger."
Just waiting until we can bring in a freshman class that can see siginifigant playing time and have the opportunity to grow together over four years.

The proper pronoun shold be "she" but grammar aside, that could be part of the problem. Miller might be interested in a 6'10" post player.

"Who was so good on this team that this kid couldn't get 10-12 minutes a game?"...ON A LOSING TEAM.
Sealey was supposed to have as much upside as anyone in the program. From what I see, I think he does.
Instead, we invest PT in Dee Brown and Erger. Also, McElroy comes in, doesn't get off the bench as a freshman and proved almost nothing as a sophomore.

Did it again with Sealey.

FWIW,
I'm pretty sure that MAtt Stainbrook, a Lakewood St. Ed's alum, is NOT a freshman...pretty sure he played last year...with a lot less hair.

These threads are dug up from a year (or more) ago.
