Wow, the MAC's looking good according to Sagarin. We're 8th in the country. Yeah, I know it may be a tad early to have statistically valid ratings, but it's still nice to see. In three weeks, conference play begins. After that, the conferences' Sagarin ratings (and also the RPIs) will not significantly change relative to the others. Hopefully, we'll stay this high. Maybe then, BG AND another MAC team will go to the dance!

1 ATLANTIC COAST = 85.12 84.82 ( 1) 11
2 BIG 12 = 80.60 80.66 ( 2) 12
3 MISSOURI VALLEY = 80.39 80.04 ( 5) 10
4 SOUTHEASTERN = 80.15 80.18 ( 4) 12
5 BIG TEN = 80.05 80.47 ( 3) 11
6 BIG EAST = 79.11 79.47 ( 6) 12
7 CONFERENCE USA = 78.49 78.39 ( 8) 14
8 MID-AMERICAN = 78.02 78.67 ( 7) 13
9 HORIZON = 77.98 77.78 ( 10) 9
10 WEST COAST = 77.72 77.73 ( 11) 8
11 PACIFIC-10 = 77.42 77.89 ( 9) 10
12 MOUNTAIN WEST = 76.57 76.69 ( 12) 8
13 WESTERN ATHLETIC = 76.13 75.63 ( 13) 10

The thing that jumped out at me right away was that the MAC is currently ranked three spots ahead of the Pac-10. The same Pac-10 with Arizona, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, Washington, etc. I honestly have not followed the pac10 much this year with the exception of Arizona, so don't know how strong they are looking as a conference.
Interesting.

Interesting.
With Henry Bibby getting fired at USC, they're obviously struggling. Maybe it's the whole coast!

I check these ratings almost every day. The MAC jumped i believe 4 places overnight. This was due to ratings becoming connected. Since the low preseason rankings of the MAC teams were thrown out, the league jumped. We are just a fraction behind the freakin' Big East. I think this due to some good wins over almost every other midmajor conference and the lack of really terrible teams, which is what keeps our football ranking down.

Keep it going, MACsters!!

Yeah, the MAC was 14th in the beginning of the week. Funny enough, it jumped up all those sports after Miami beat Wright State and Akron beat Cleveland State. Other conference losses and wins helped figure into that equation as well. But every MAC win in the non-conference can help.
