Look at the "coach Stone" thread....kid is from Mich., obviously had grade probs., went to prep school in Va.
Looks like a solid player, assuming of course he can keep his grades up. When will these kids EVER learn that being a STUDENT athlete, is supposed to be just that?

They''ll get the message when their high school coaches, teachers and administrators stop treating them special and letting them slide because they are talented athletes. It's all about the dollar signs - mostly imagined, like when I buy a lottery ticket!

I don't think anyone let him slide or treated him special. The high school teachers recorded his grades as such that he did not meet NCAA academic standards. The high school administrators obviously upheld the grades the teachers gave him, or to say it better, the grades he earned. If it was not a GPA problem, then it was a problem with the ACT. If it was a problem with the ACT, obviously no one let him slide or treated him special there either. He or someone in his life thought it would be good to attend a prep school to improve his academics, to meet the standards of the NCAA. He is in the process of doing that now.

Teachers, Coaches, Administrators and Guidance Counselors at high schools keep telling kids they need to do their work and achieve at a higher level - been around them my whole life. Then the colleges turn around and allows these students in often without meeting standards or attending a Prep School or Junior College. When the kid fails the colleges always want to blame the high school.

This seems like the best situation for a kid that struggles. In my version of the USA we give people second chances. This kid didn't get it done by the traditional path but if he has done the work this past year he will succeed all the same. And when he succeeds we all should be very proud of his achievement regardless of the potholes he encountered along the way.
