BG drops tough one at Valpo, 82-79...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Some key missed FT's by BG down the stretch did us in. BG was down 50-39 and went on a 14-2 run to take the lead.

It was a great game despite the outcome. Both teams played hard.

BG now 5-4 and travels to East Lansing to take on Sparty next Sat night...game is on the BiG whatever network.

Similar to the WKU game, we fall behind by double figures then claw our way back, but came up short again. Gotta sit on another tough loss for a week, and are likely looking at another one when we do play again.

...along with the loss at Georgia. The only really bad game they've had has been GW.

The technical on Oglesby was a killer and might have cost us the game. Admittedly, the call was very borderline/arbitrary. However, players need to be focused and mindful with their behavior. Do not ever give a ref any reason whatsoever to call a T, especially in that situation.

As long as we learn from the mistakes (T's) and start coming out of the gate stronger this team still seems to be on the right track.

Having spent 4 years at Valpo while my wife was on staff there I can say it is a very tough place to play. The arena is small and close just like Anderson was. A small croud sounds much bigger. It's a great atmosphere to be in. Add to that a Valpo team that Bryce has playing very well (defeat of Butler AT Hinkle) and we had our hands full. As others have said, learn the lessons available and move on.

I was able to watch the game on the Valpo feed....Bleed, I agree the T on Oglesby was huge. I believe BG was down 72-71 at the time and Valpo got 4 FT's....2 for the foul called and 2 for the T and they ended up making 3.
