Very interesting game tonight. I think it's better if Akron wins this one. I'm right... right?

Ohio already up 18 on Akron with 5:00 to play first half, Akron look shellshocked at the pace and scoring flurry Ohio is throwing at them.

Well it looks like Akron, Buffalo and now Ohio have the top 3 seeds locked up. BG would need to win out, Kent lose both of its games and also EMU would need to lose one of its remaining games for BG to get the last seed. Very slim chance now.

Even with an Ohio win tonight, BG can still get a bye in either of the following ways:

** One BG win, Kent loses out (vs. Akron and vs. Ohio), EMU loses out (at WMU, vs. Toledo), and Ohio ends ahead of Buffalo in the standings.

** BG wins out, Kent loses out, and EMU loses at least one.

BG must finish ahead of EMU but can finish tied with Kent State and earn the bid by virtue of the second tiebreak (compare results against other teams in standings beginning with top team and working down the standings).

Our one-point loss to Akron and two-point loss to Buffalo were killers. If you are one of the top two seeds, you get not one bye, but a double-bye. The #1 and #2 seeds only have to win two games to win the MAC Tournament and go to the NCAA Tournament.

Thanks for breaking it all down.

Wait a minute, I don't think that's correct. If BG and Kent tie, and Kent were to beat Akron they would win the tie breaker with the working the way down theory, so in essence BG needs to win out and Kent needs to lose both, correct????

And just think, NOT ONE SENIOR ON THE OHIO ROSTER. Clearly the favorites for next year.

You got me there gmartin. You're right. I have to keep redoing this all the time. It does appear Kent needs to lose out regardless because they would earn the tiebreak over BG with one win. But BG could still get a bye with just one win in the last two games if some other things fell right also (EMU losing out and Ohio ending ahead of Buffalo).

** I went back and fixed the original post so BG fans had one set of scenarios to follow.

I think Ohio is the favorite this year too. OU has clearly mapped out and Has shown you don't need a bunch of seniors to be a contender. Many of these guys are juniors who were contributors as freshmen on their NCAA Tournament team to years ago or are underclassmen who are contributing now. I am also not sold on Akron at all despite the Zips having the best record in the conference. I know we can't find a damn way to ever beat them....even though we sure as heck should have in our one-point home loss to them....but I think they are easily beatable. I would say that if they were undefeated in the MAC right now too.

8,000 fans in the Convo for the Akron game and the place still looked empty. Too bad they can't get Regional Tournament games there; too far from a big airport.

UT vs OU this year: no seniors for either team. UT doesn't add much, not sure if OU has any new players coming in or not. For the first five minutes of that game I thought OU was the best college team I'd seen live in five years. The rest of the game, one of the poorest. If Cooper ever decides plays hard for the whole game they will dominate the league but I don't see that happening.

OU fans will tell you they pack that place every night and you don't know what you're talking about. They are the fan base all others should aspire to be.

Place is in BF Egypt.

I hate OU.

I don't think that's an accurate criticism of Cooper. But to answer your non-question, OU is adding freshman Caris LeVert and Mizzou transfer Kadeem Green (midseason).
