Agreed. The MAC just isn't a two-bid league right now. In order for a MAC team to have an at large they would have to go 30-2 or something ridiculous, not unlike our BG Women being left out when they were 29-4 or whatever a few years back.

Bids are not based on conference affiliation, they are based on individual teams' accomplishments. Akron will considered on the basis of Akron's accomplishments, not the MACs.

Akron does have a RPI of 51. That's a bubble RPI. Akron is a possibility.

Well, no they aren't based on conference affiliation, but I still think for a team in the MAC right now to have an at-large chance, they need a ridiculous record and multiple big-time out of conference wins. A BCS conference school with an RPI of 58 would be chosen over Akron with an RPI of 51, IMHO. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Akron to get in, I just don't think it will happen and I do think the conference affiliation has a bit to do with it.

Absolutely. The fact that Akron is in the MAC means they are most likely on the outside looking in. If Akron had the exact same statistics but was in a bigger conference, nobody would be questioning if they should be in.

For those of you who feel like conference affiliation has nothing to do with it, remember to look at California's schedule and tell me who they beat all year to deserve a spot.

***Update*** RPI is a scam to protect the BCS conference teams. ESPN even went so far as to develop their own system that argues how useless the RPI is. My point remains, what quality wins do they have?

I know they SAY conference affiliation doesn't play a role....but let's be serious. I don't want to alarm you but the reason that the committee decides this stuff behind closed doors is so they aren't bound to use any objective standards that would get the wrong teams in. Akron did lose 11 games.

Akron didn't receive a bid, and Akron shouldn't have received a bid. 3-10 against the RPI top 100 is not tournament worthy this year. Not only did Akron's resume not compare favorably to many BCS (or "power six") bubble teams, but it didn't compare favorably to some mid- (and low-) major teams (e.g. ORU and Middle Tennesse St.).
