This was probably the most obvious move in the MAC. He only won 75 games in six years and his son was by far his best recruit. Great guy, but he struggled to bring in talent.

Detroit Free Press reported today that both Trey Zeigler and McBroom tweeted they were leaving CMU.

I doubt they would be granted a release inside the conference.

Couldn't have happened to a more classless individual.

Not sure they could stop a kid from transferring to another school, even within the conference...he'd have to sit out a year anyway. And Tre Ziegler indicated he wanted to play D-1, NOT go down a level and play right away. And who knows if these two kids really want to leave CMU or are just emotional right now.

If they don't grant the release, he has to pay his own way for the year he sits out...no release, no scholarship. It's typically a given that school's don't allow a release so a kid can xfer within their conference

If this comment is being derived from the fact he was calling out box-out strategies while BG shot free throws, you're outta your mind. However, if you have other reasons to call him classless, I'd love to hear them and then I'd possibly be open to retracting my previous sentence.

Detroit Free Press report the younger Zeigler has been granted his release and will either play at U of M or MSU, after sitting out one year.

Don't want to hijack this whole thread but Shaka Smart turned down Illinois to remain at VCU. It's good to see coaches staying put and sticking to a contract rather than bolting for the money.

Trey Zeigler received immediate eligibility at Pitt by the NCAA for 2012 per today's "Detroit Free Press." Seems a little strange. I know he left CMU because his Dad was fired but it seems a kid who is not the coach's son and leaves when the coach that recruited him leaves or gets fired is treated much differently.

If they are going to continue to have this unfair balance in ncaa basketball and football, which is never good for the sport overall, what I would atleast like to see is them make some sort of realization that there are 2 different groups and make transferring down a level easier. Imagine if you did not have to sit out a season to transfer to a team that did not go to a bowl game last year. We would see more transfers and better talent being utilized. Now you see talent wasted as backups on the BCS teams.
