I temper my initial reaction to Ask The AD.
I have never called him out before, even as I called for Louis Orr's job last year and this year, but after watching the clips, I'm now convinced.

I bet you watch more games then he does.
Dave Horger is mesmerizing.

I just watched that horror show (again) hoping for some better information on the men's basketball team.
As long as Christopher is the AD and Orr doesn't fall off the face of the Earth record-wise -- meaning he continues his steady level of mediocrity -- we probably won't see a change.
Too bad. I guess my boycott of the men's team now goes into effect and as a Falcon Club member, the next time they call me asking for money for whatever, I'll have to decline and say I'm withholding until the basketball program makes a change and I see it -- directionally -- going where I think it should be.

I will just start to lose interest. Scott Thomas was easy to root for and it was fun to see what he did. Not sure next years team will be as fun to watch.

Zulu, BGWriter,
Can you guys direct me to the link for this Christopher thing you're referring to? I couldn't find it on
www.bgsufalcons.com. Thanks. I'd appreciate it.

B.O.,
I think what they're referring to is the monthly "meet with the AD" feature...it's BELOW the regular five stories that are currently featured. Click on it and you should get about a 12-13 minute interview with GC.

The attendance could've been better, yes. The food prices could be lower, yes. But, why anyone has a problem with having their bag checked is beyond me. Do people understand that this is standard procedure at college and professional sporting events all around the country?
Of the people I've talked to this season (and there have been a lot of them), NO ONE from out of town has complained about the security personnel, the prices or the customer service. I don't want to paint all of the 'townies' with the same brush, but if you've never left the BG city limits, let me say this: Not every arena is like Anderson Arena, where you can just walk in for free and walk along the sidelines to your seat WHILE THE GAME IS GOING ON.
As we all know, Anderson Arena had virtually no security whatsoever, and there was always an unlocked door where you could just walk right in. I loved Anderson Arena. It was a great place to watch a game, but so is the Stroh Center, and I like the fact that we have an arena of such quality. There is no way BGSU would have been able to host an NCAA event in Anderson Arena, but the Stroh Center just hosted the #1 women's basketball team in the country. It looked great on TV, brought people (with spending money) to town and brought positive publicity to the university and the community. OK, I'll get off my soapbox now.

Ok, but next year the fact remains the product will still be average at best. Providing a new arena is a super thing to have happen in our little town. AND it proves the university is committed to basketball, at least women's; not so sure about men's.
So the next move is to aggressively treat what is a very a poor men's program. Each year, every MAC school should set a goal of reaching the Sweet Sixteen or winning the NIT. BG will never win the NIT because our gymnasium is too small to host a home game, but we need to start at least positioning ourselves to win a MAC Tournament and move into the national spotlight for a few days in the NCAA tournament. I do not see necessary steps being taken to strengthen the men's program. Hence, I don't feel compelled to go to men's games anymore. Like I said I have better things to do with my time and money. I don't think I am alone here.

Christopher is completely delusional. To say that he's happy with this men's program "directionally". Directionally!? DIRECTIONALLY!?!? What the eff direction are we going!? We've been the same mediocre blah team for the past 3 years.
His expectations are entirely too low for this program. Listening to him say that makes me sick. ugh

We should expect a successful program that challenges for the MAC title on a yearly basis. We are not close to that goal at the moment. Gotta admit, I'm jealous of Ohio, Akron and Kent State. THAT is the level BG should shoot for and not accept mediocrity.

I was beside myself after I heard him say that too. I'm hoping like crazy he thinks differently than what he's saying publicly and didn't want to say anything on the segment that could look or sound bad. But if he actually feels the way he said on there, he doesn't have a clue. No one in their right mind could be happy with the direction of this program right now.

He can't come out and say the season and the coach are a failure. It would make him, the university, the program, everyone look bad. Part of his job is spin control. I'd imagine Orr will have until the end of this contract to right the ship. If not he won't be renewed.
