Most of us know that Clawson made a point about recruiting the area within an X mile radius and referring to that as the State of Bowling Green. According to this nice story in Sunday's Toledo Blade (written by the incomparable Ryan Autullo), the class of 2013 in Northwest Ohio is loaded with Div I basketball prospects. UT has offers out to five of the kids and their coach even commented to the extent that he can for the article. Orr has offers out to two, one being a young man who lives in BG and has a parent(s?) teaching at BGSU. Orr refused to comment for the story.

He's not commenting because he probably has no clue who half these guys are. Next time he does an interview, hopefully he gets questioned on why he didn't actively recruit a lot of these players, like UT is doing, so we can get his typical response to the tough question "With God be the Glory!". This program and staff sickens me.

Yeah, I'm trying not to pass judgement, but it seems disappointing to say the least that there are so many talented young men right here in our own backyard and we aren't pursuing them. But we can go to Texas and get guys like Erger (Not dissin' Erger, just seems like we could get a local kid and get the same production, so why not do that instead of recruiting in Texas? )

And for what it is worth, I'd give us about a 2% chance to land the Brown kid. With his parent(s) teaching at the university, we should have the inside track to bring him in but I doubt that happens.

BG has also offered, Wes Clark, a 6' guard out of Detroit Romulus high school.

He has offers from USC, UIC, BGSU, Cleveland State, Dayton, and Oakland.

I'd say we have a way better than 2% chance of getting Vitto Brown, and I'm not excited in the least. Kid has good size and good skill, but not sure how he will handle college basketball. His quote in that Blade article says alot for someone who was suspended games in high school. Add, that Stone's kid is on his high school team, and I'd be shocked if he does not end up here. Plus, he plays the same position we seem to have in this recruiting class. Count me as one that hopes Vitto has a big summer and goes bigger than BG. Here is my question. How does Lou Orr have no connections to the East after all of his years in that area? We haven't brought in 1 kid from the area he coached in for 10 plus years. It also seems as if his Cincinnati connections stopped since Jackson left.

From the article it really sounded like Brown has no respect for the MAC at all. Something along the lines of, "I'm thinking much bigger than that" was the quote? I skimmed it pretty quickly, but from the tone of that quote didn't sound like he wanted to be playing in the MAC.

Overall I have thought BG has done a horrendous job recruiting the local area for years. There are kids that can play in the city league and the only ones we seem to recruit are the Floyds/Jakubowski's of the world. I was (still am?) hopeful that Henderson would prove to be an exception to that, but who knows...with our inability to develop a guard...

I'm pretty much on the same boat with this staff as I was with Dakich the final couple years. Just wonder how long we're going to have to suffer through this mediocrity before we commit to winning.

I do not think Vitto Brown should be talked about in a negative light because he wants to play at a higher level than the MAC. His exact quote regarding his 4 MAC offers was "I want to go higher than that". This season the MAC was the 17th out of 32 conferences, the year before it was 20th. This is not the 90's or first 5 years of the 2000's when the conference RPI was between 9th-12th. Vitto Brown is a 4.0 (or very close to it) student, had a huge junior year, is still growing, and plays on a big AAU team. Why would he not want to pursue playing at a higher level? He has a great opportunity to show himself to bigger schools this spring and summer. I would be more concerned if his quote was "I want to settle for a MAC school and not take a shot at doing any better with my play this spring or summer." Also his quote about wanting to go to a higher conference level, and the fact he was suspended from games have nothing to do with each other. His suspensions had to do with getting 2 technicals in a game, which is immature. His quote about wanting to play at a higher level than the MAC is one of aspiration which shows some maturity. With 16 year olds you will see both mature and immature actions.

Caris LeVert has requested his release from OU.

He was OU's only recruit this year. He was a mid level recruit who exploded his senior year.

Hey guys, it isn't SAD that we're not pursuing many NWO prospects right now. We only have ONE scholarship to offer. Toledo has several. If you have only ONE scholarship to offer, it doesn't make sense to go recruit everyone in sight

They have at least 4 for 2013. Which is the class this article is about.

But we all have to remember, Lou wants to use it wisely, if he decides to use it at all.

There was a coaching change at OU, not really a shock he would want out after the coach that recruited him left

We have local products Luke Kraus and Anthony Henderson on the current roster who aren't exactly setting the world on fire. One could argue that neither one is a legitament D1 player. I don't care where they come from as long as they can play.
