Meh. At this point, there are very few players available worth signing. It's better to sit on it and give to a better prospect. We wouldn't want to give a scholarship to a non-contributor just to use it. He'll consume a roster spot for 4 years.

Juco for 2 years. I just cant beleive that we didnt use a scholarship. I have never heard of that happening.

Happens on occasion across the country. Xavier is doing the same thing after releasing Mark Lyons from his scholarship. Total. Non. Issue.

First you say it rarely happens then you describe a scenario that is much different then ours where it did happen then you say its a non issue.AyZiggy97 wrote:Happens on occasion across the country. Xavier is doing the same thing after releasing Mark Lyons from his scholarship. Total. Non. Issue.
At the very least its a completely bungled situation. We have 4 schollies next year...we don't need 5 freshman signed by a guy who should not even be coaching here.
The last guy we signed that anyone else seemed to want was Jehvon Clarke and I can't name a guy before that.

I agree with AyZiggy97 - this is not an issue. If there's a difference-maker that's still out there this late in the process, then sign him, by all means. BUT, if there's a player who is still out there at this late date, there's probably a reason he's unsigned.Globetrotter wrote:First you say it rarely happens then you describe a scenario that is much different then ours where it did happen then you say its a non issue.AyZiggy97 wrote:Happens on occasion across the country. I'd rather have a scholarship go unused than sign someone -- whether a freshman or a JUCO kid -- who isn't good enough to play MAC basketball.

It's not quite at the same scale...but the football team went multiple seasons without a full complement of scholarhsip players.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

The problem is that they could not get someone who was worth it to play before. You would think they had a list of ideas of guys ready to go. I hope that they have an alternative to go to and they are just waiting on grades etc. I don't think thats the case.threestooges wrote:I agree with AyZiggy97 - this is not an issue.
