BG 73 Central State 60

Post by BGorDeath »

BG wins. Crawford has 30. Calhoun has 19 and 14 boards. However, we should have had 90 and Central State 15. Crawford shot too much and Erger saw action. My God, it was horrific. Let the bashing begin.

No. I'm not sure whether they are NAIA or D3.

Wright State beat them 78-56 on Friday night.

Anyone know why BG only plays 1 exhibition? You're allowed 2 against lower level teams and or 1 vs a lower level team and 1 scrimmage vs a D1 school. To my knowledge BG doesn't scrimmage anyone, either.

So, how were Clarke, Parker, and Holmes?

Also, tell me, did Erger see more minutes than Sealey? Did Kraus play more than Clarke?

For those asking Central State is Division II, they are a D2 independent. They actually beat Wright State in an exhibition game last season, and in this season's exhibition game with them it was tied at the half

Clark B+
Holmes A-/B+
Parker C-

It's too bad Clark and Holmes didn't play more, because I thought both looked pretty good, especially for being young. I like Holmes.

I will give you the obligatory "because Orr's an idiot" response, since it has not appeared yet. Just want to make sure all points of bitching get equal time.

Not sure what is more annoying, people bitching about Orr, or you bitching about the people that bitch about Orr

Things that stood out to me from the write up.

Bowling Green had missed its first 12 attempts from three-point range--yikes. Can Denney forego his senior year.

“Jordon Crawford was terrific scoring the ball,” BGSU Head Coach Louis Orr said. “For us, he’s got to both score and run the team.”--MDE---Most Dominant EVER

“Luke gave us some really good minutes on the defensive end,” Orr said. “A’uston got some tough rebounds in traffic and our young guys had some good, solid minutes.”---I expect alot of this. Kraus is our gutty defender who can play with both Clarke and Crawford. Kraus did not score in 28 minutes against Central St.

22% from 3
59% from FT

Both Gross

Starters seem to be (Minutes break down)
1 Crawford (31)-Clarke (9)
2 Kraus (28)-Henderson (16)
3 Orr (19)-Erger (17)
4 Calhoun (34)-Parker (4)
5 Sealey (27)-Holmes (14)

Not excited at all to see Clarke with just 9 minutes.

Video is great.
Crawford looks great as usual. Calhoun had a sweet dunk, James Erger followed it up by a nice fundamentally sound lay in.
Chauncey Orr is a nice complimentary D 1 player. And his facial hair makes him look older.

Great to hear that we at least won. I'm not ready to call it doomsday or start bashing the team yet, but some of the stats do make me uneasy...we shall see though.

Kraus exemplifies what’s wrong with the BG program. In reality, he shouldn’t be on a D1 roster. He should be playing for Central State in this game.

He starts tonight and plays 28 minutes and yet doesn’t score a point, doesn’t grab a rebound and doesn’t have an assist. Then, our coach singles him out after the game as our “gutty defender.” I bet you I can go over to the REC Center most nights and find a guy there that could walk on and play gutty defense for us…and he’d probably be a lot more athletic than Kraus.

Now, don’t start criticizing me for being too hard on Kraus after one exhibition game. I don’t know Luke. He’s probably a fine young man and a terrific student. But, if you take a full scholarship to a D1 program, you have to be open to criticism of your play. And, all I can go by is what I see on the basketball court.

You cannot expect to compete against the backcourts at Kent State, Ohio U, Western Michigan, or Buffalo with Luke Kraus as your starting two guard. You just can’t. I’ve sat courtside at the last 12 MAC Tournaments and watched teams with superior guard play have the most success.

Sadly, Luke is just the beginning of our problems on this team. He and Crawford make up the one of the worst starting backcourts in the MAC.

Another long season for the Falcons. So sad…
