If you could create an ultimate team....from 1998 on
Who would it be?
You have 13 spots. Don't worry about the school years they are in or anything like that. Who would make your roster of 13 top players from 1998-2012?

A few names that came to mind....I am sure I missed some
1 Pardon – CRAWFORD - Hamblet Wright
2 McCleod –Samarco - Lewis
3 Esterkamp – Thomas – Miller - Reimold Fitch
4 Stacey – CALHOUN - Ahlmanson Klassen
5 Matela – Polk - Netter Vandermeer

I wouldn't have Netter on there. I'd have Klassen or Lefeld in there before that knucklehead.

Netter oozed talent. He would have been much better of if Dakich hadn't tried to jam him into the low post. Netter should have went elsewhere.

Give me Reimold over Esterkamp any day.

Who was the kid whose dad made him transfer to Illinois-Chicago because he did want to have to drive to BG to watch him? I thought he set a single game record for blocks as a freshman.

Scott Vandermeer.
He looked to have some potential in that Freshman year.

Another great part about Dakich. No filter. Told the media why the kid transferred. Now all we hear is coach speak and scripture. Makes it hard to care.

Boot Crawford in favor of Steven Wright or even John Floyd. Boot Netter in favor of Klassen...strongly consider booting Thomas for Germaine Fitch

So there are 21 names in that second post of this thread. If you were going to take 13 who would it be?
Re: If you could create an ultimate team....from 1998 on
PG -- Pardon
SG -- McLeod, Lewis, Wright, Crawford
SF -- Reimold, Miller
PF -- Stacey, Calhoun, Almanson
C -- Matela, Polk
I'm having a tough time really coming up with a 13th name. I need another PG but there aren't any. Lewis is probably a better PG than the other options, but he's still a SG. Pardon is the only real PG we've had in the allowed time frame. I guess I'd add Scott Thomas to the group, but honestly he's not playing on this roster, I may as well add Dusan....

1 Pardon – Crawford
2 McCleod – Samarco - Lewis
3 Reimold - Miller - Esterkamp – Thomas
4 Stacey – Calhoun
5 Matela – Polk
This was mine. Fitch was the last one out. I have no memory of Wright or Hamblet so putting them on seemed a bit much.
At PG Pardon is light years ahead of everyone else but I think we need a backup. Crawford can fit that spot if we need a guy and we can run the offense through Miller or Stacey.
At SG I went with McCleod who is my favorite all time BG player. Stud scorer and defender and a great athlete. Lewis was also very good. I wish he hadn't transferred. Samarco I added just from a pure scoring aspect. Need a spark off the bench...hear you go.
SF Reimold who I barely remember but was a scorer along with Esterkamp. Miller would be a jack of all trades. A poor man's Stacey. Thomas is a poor man's Miller. Great glue guy for the end of the bench.
PF Stacey would be the leader of the team. Calhoun would probably not play much with Miller sliding down.
C Matela and Polk would be a perfect duo. Polk's defense and presence would make defense at C have little drop off.
