A'uston Calhoun

I've read a lot of the criticism of this guy over the past couple of months about his inconsistency and all of that. Some of this is true, but even after looking at his game by game statistics, he has been a beast. Sure, he has put up 20+ points and then followed that up by a "weak" game. A lot of MAC players do. But I do not think that he is anything to complain about at all. He has had a countless number of games where he has been huge. And this year, he is averaging over 16 points a game with 7 rebounds per game. Take into account that he gets double teamed every single time he touches the ball, the fact that other team's game plan is to do everything that they possibly can to shut him down (Mainly because everyone else isn't very good), and the fact that we have no perimeter game at all and basically no shooters at all to help him out; he has done a remarkable job.
I have also seen a lot of people on here bash him about his attitude, which I do not understand at all. In every press conference I have ever seen of this kid, all he talks about is how he wants to win. He doesn't care about his numbers (yet he continues to put up good stats) and he always shifts the attention to what OTHER players did.
It is incredible to me that this guy has been a great player for us considering the lack of production around him. And I think that all of the criticism (For the most part, considering all of the negative things in this program that surround him) is extremely unfair. A'uston is a great player that this team is very lucky to have. You got a glimpse of how important he was last game. We had probably one of the worst halfs I have ever seen in the game of basketball while A'uston had some foul trouble. Then we had one of the best halfs I have ever seen this team play as A'uston fell 2 boards short of a double-double.
He is 2 points shy of 1,000 points in his career. And I think it is time that some people start recognizing how special he has been for our Falcons. He is a bright spot for a program that seems to be dead right now. He is also an incredibly nice and caring individual from what I have seen.
