Coach's "T"

Post by orangeandbrown »

Does someone know what exactly Coach was so worked up about to get T'd up with :30 left in a blow out. Didn't have the faintest idea--seemed to come on really fast from what I could tell.

Don't know why he was upset or exactly what he said. But I overheard some gentleman talking as we were leaving the game. They were saying that the ref told if he says that again he is going to give him a "T". And Dackich replied with something like "Well I already said it, so go ahead." And the "T" followed.

It was pretty obvious Dakich was determined to get a T and wasn't going to stop until he did.

Phil Bova

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

The official was Phil Bova... he has a history of being... well... a hard-nosed guy. When you get two hard-nosed guys together, that's bound to happen. :-) I think there's a history between DD and Bova from the way Tom Dakich posed the question on the post-game show...

Speaking of... did you hear Dakich start the comment about taking a call from Urban Meyer right after the game and then cutting himself off saying he can't talk about that... Wonder what that was all about?!?!

Since there was no traffic and I basically leave acroos the street from campus, I was home watching my tape of the Amazing Race before Dakich came on the post game show. Grant, can you clarify that Urban Meyer thing? Are you saying the UM called DD after the game and they had a conversation? And then DD mentions it on the post-game show before realizing that he shouldn't have said that?

Maybe DD is going to be UM's offensive coordinator.

I don't think he realized he shouldn't have said it... it sounded more like a teaser... *shrug*

I am still curious why the heck UM would be calling DD, especially imediately following a bball game. Do you think he was just offering congratulations on a big victory over a tough IUPUFW squad?

They were next-door neighbors (or their back-yards were adjacent at least) and very good buddies. I don't think it's out-of-the-ordinary...

I undertand that, but it just seems like an odd time to call. Seems like he would have waited an hour or so after the game, not five minutes.

Don't you see?

Urban waits for no mere mortal being, people wait for him. He probably wanted DD to take the call DURING the game.

On the post game show, Coach D. was upset that the refs were not calling anything underneath. IUPUFIDUSIOYA players were hanging on our guys with no call. That's what he was upset about. Oh, and I think he called him a "c***sucker".

Well, that would do it.

There's a part in Season on the Brink when Knight keeps called Joby Wright that. Wright says,

"Hey Coach, I'm trying to quit!"
