Schedule updates for this upcoming season

Despite the biggest lack of interest I have ever had for this program, I stumbled across some schedule updates for the early season tournaments. This website has BG in the Cancun Challenge as a visiting team. The home teams are Wisconsin, West Virginia, St. Louis and Old Dominion. It appears the opening rounds are on campus sites and teams advance to Cancun. So we know it's safe to say BG won't be heading to Cancun....that is....unless God wants the Falcons to. Anyway, here is some info on that tournament and others:

Too bad you didn't take the time to investigate the tournament. If you had, you would see that the team will play in Cancun on November 26 & 27 as part of the Mayan Division.
This tournament is put together by Triple Crown Sports. They are also responsible for the Women's NIT. Same group that sponsored the tourney the women played at against Duke a few years back.

Guess its too much to hope that supposed fans would support the players next year.

I did look and didn't see where it said all the teams will go to Cancun regardless of results in the US games. The US games are listed on the 21 and 23 and the Cancun games are on the 26 and 27. The past results shows a larger field of teams listed with losers advancing to Cancun but not in the last couple years (last it showed that happening was in 2010). So if there's no qualifying or advancing needed (because no way will we) and every team goes, then good for our guys if they get to go. It wasn't very clear and I "investigated" enough to even find the event.
Also, I do support our players and want nothing but the best for them. I'd give my left nut to see BG win the MAC Tournament and go to the NCAA Tournament. But I have no more patience for our coaching, or lack thereof. Year after year I found myself in the same situation after the season saying that was it, but I kept coming back for more. No more. If BG won't make the change needed (yeah, I know the 101 reasons why it didn't) then I will. I refuse to pay - litteraly - for this crap anymore. Year after year of buying tickets, making the trip back and fourth to BG (four-hour round trip each time for me), gas, food, etc., to watch that poor product in the Orr tenure is over. For those of you who live locally, I'm sure it's nice to be able to drive home in 10 minutes or so and be in bed shortly after each debacle, but when you come from distance to see that junk, you're reminded of it each mile you travel back. My financial contributions to the program have stopped too. I'm not stopping giving to BG, I am stopping what I give to BG basketball. I am taking that and putting it towards what I already do for football. I will still follow the team and wish them well in every game, I'm just not coming back to BG or hitting the road for away games any more until things change, with or without Orr. When things change and BG gets back to what it can and SHOULD be, then so will I. Until then, I won't miss the shoulder shrugging and befuddled looks on the face of the guy we've paid over a million dollars to bury this program.

Just looking at those divisions, I'm thinking BG can give Presbyterian a run for the Mayan Division title. BG probably still an underdog, but has a shot.

What an annoying post. Flipper made a mistake reading the announcement. And yes, it is too much to hope that fans will take time out of their lives to support a dead program. The players are on scholarship and are welcomed to play their best with or without "obligatory" fan support, if not only to advance their own careers.

If San Diego State is invited, would they have a conflict of interest if they were put in the Mayan division?

In searching for some possible non-conference games for BG this upcoming season, I did stumbled across a few teams that have posted their non-conference schedules thus far and saw that Toledo is playing at Kansas. Now that would be an awesome experience, getting to play a game at Allen Fieldhouse. I also saw that EMU is playing at Kentucky. Yes, these two games will very likely lead to losses for both UT and EMU, but for those kids, those are two of the best atmospheres in all of college basketball to get to play in.

On a somewhat unrelated note...I would love to see us play Kentucky next year. Their incoming freshman class is possibly the deepest class since Michigan's Fab Five.

Better IMO. That class is ridiculous.

Both Kentucky and Ohio State are still looking for home games.

You're probably right...Jackson and King were viewed as secondary to Weber, Howard and Rose. There isn't a "secondary" guy in that Kentucky class.

We shall see if the KY class produces an NBA All Star and have three players with long Pro careers. A lot can happen, so it's way too early to make these pronouncements.
