It's weird. Dakich's biggest problem was his revolving door roster with scores of players transferring out every year, some even before the season began. We hired a replacement who's better in that regard but worse in every single other component needed to build and sustain a winning program.

His players have no place to transfer to.

They don't want to leave because it's nice and comfortable here. Mediocrity is just fine.

I agree with you but I always think thats cliche. Who doesn't want to be comfortable? I would retire today and live on a beach in Goa if I could afford it. I want to live nice and comfortable.

It might be cliche, but next year watch the bench players during a timeout. It's as loose w/ as little attention to detail as I've ever seen at the D1 level. You think 18-22 year old kids don't prefer that over the threat of being told your not good enough to play here and basically forced to transfer. Remember it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Every one of Gene Cross's players transferred somewhere. 'Nuff said.

Yeah, bud did Cross's players play at D1 schools after the transfer?

I got to hear the post-season rant/take on Orr. He has NO DISCIPLINE. The inmantes run the asylum.

Shades of a certain WBB coach that whas dismissed?

I'm sure it's academic anyway as this ought to be his last year.

Actually many did. Larry Bastfield at some D1 school in Maryland, MAC All-Freshman Jake Barnett at St. Louis, Neil Watson- a big time player for Southern Miss. A couple others ended up at various D1 schools in lesser roles. If Cross's guys were able to find D1 homes ANYBODY should be able to.

How did your AD hire Cross AND Kowalzyk? Did he read "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hiring a Division I Basketball Coach" after he realized his error?

At least Cross had experience at Notre Dame and was known as a solid recruiter, even if every other Brey assistant has crashed and burned as a head coach.

Our AD hired Orr after he sat out a full year after being fired following an NCAA Tournament appearence (major red flag) and was known as a bad recruiter.
