I've been in BG since 2005 and there hasn't been any midnight madness event any of those years

Actually, I seem to recall some type of "madness" program 2-3 yrs. ago...only reason it sticks with me is that a woman player beat the guys in the 3pt. shooting contest. Can't recall her name off hand, but she was the one who transferred to Indiana when Curt left. I understand she was injured last yr. too and so hasn't played competitive ball in 3 yrs.

The buzz his team is generating is intense.
So many questions.
Will Lamont's stones son have to suit up and play when we realize we only have twelve guys total for e scrimmage and three are suspended and certainly some have some sort of injury? Would he start for this current team today? Would Louis Orr at age fifty or so start? Would a lineup of hop son coach Orr coach twig coach stone and me defeat the starters on this team?
Are there any super sneaky walk now that are on the team but not on the roster?
We have four players playing in this game that have never seen a regular season minute for the falcons. Will how they did in his scrimmage or how they are doing in preseason workouts even be mentionsed anywhere?
How well will Zach Denny fulfill the joe jqkabowski role?

BG's version of Midnight Madness these days consists of us fans (however many of us are even left) screaming at the top of our lungs and bracing ourselves for another dreadful, lackluster, uneventful, heartbreaking, disappointing and extremely frustrating season to come.
When I was on school - when BG basketball was actually GOOD and had a frickin' pulse!!! - we actually had Midnight Madness. The one year we had 3,500 fans show up to see it. A near-full Anderson Arena saw a dunk contest, three-point shoutout, the Chicago Bulls dance team called the Luvabulls performed, we had a BMX freestyle show, etc. It was awesome!!! I can't be the only one on here who remembers this, those of you there too would agree I am sure.
The bottom line to all of this is: WE DERSERVE BETTER!!! We don't need to settle and go through this crap anymore. It's been too long. We had excitement and good teams during the Larranaga and Dakich eras, and it's has been killed off and buried during the Orr tenure. It simply pisses me off to see what has happened to a once proud and competitive program!

So midnight madness is everyday, good to know

While the Dakich era had its excitement early, lets not pretend the end of it didn't also help put this program in the state its currently in. His last two season were just as bad and if not worse then the last two season's Orr has had

The Dakich era was actually two distinct eras.
Pre wvu was awesome. We were good if not great, were producing Mac poty talent, and a consistent subject of Dickie v. Saying we got snubbed.
The wvu thing killed him here. I knew some of the players at the time and they NEVER welcomed him back...they felt betrayed and ready to move on...it then went down the tubes to the point I had heard our players were telling recruits on visits to absolutely not come here.
Krebbs made a blunder taking Dan back and then it was compounded by our refusal to fire him when it was clear he had completely lost control of the program and was nothing more than a caricature of his former self.
The Greg Christopher made a brutally bad hire and again refused to fire Orr. What we have now is a nearly dead program due to an administration that has clearly stated it doesn't give a damn. Honestly how often do you ever see lame duck seasons for college coaches!?!? And now we're entering our second such season in recent memory? It's a disgrace, really.
Hell I'm a season ticket holder and didn't even know there was a hoops event this weekend.

Why, why, WHY interrupt our players normal sleep and workout schedules to serve some weird non-tradition that will be ignored by almost everybody. Cease this asshattery and let the kids get their sleep.

I really just meant the scrimmage. I assumed they still made a big deal out of it. 120 people there? There were more at my high school scrimmages and we were horrible.

They don't make a big deal out of anything...like I said I had no idea there was anything going on at all with relation to bg hoops. And I live in bg and did renew my season tix.
This program and those running it are a joke.

If that's the Greg being talked about I bet he is feeling the excitement, Xavier is very excited to be in the Big East

Didn't renew my tix this year. Just going to buy GA tix when I get the motivation to go. Make that "if" I get the motivation to go.
