After 3 underachieving seasons, bring in new assistant coaches. Hire a real director of basketball operations. Or just fire myself.

He doesn't. The season will play out. Our coaches are our coaches until they are not. Their contracts are up. A decision will happen at the appropriate time. I realize this is a forum and it is difficult to find any real positives. I can't think of one tonight off hand w this team. Here is what we have: a new AD, a top flight facility to recruit to, great support in student academic success and strength/wellness/training, a good league, a chance to play, good degree programs in majors many student-athletes select and an enviable graduation and personal success rate for our student-athletes.
The win loss record will likely not be what we want. Probably not close. The sun will come up. I, for one, think their will be some bright years ahead for BG men's basketball. This isn't football where you need several good recruiting classes to even begin a total rebuild. In basketball, it can happen very very quickly. And it is quite possible at Bowling Green.

We will be bad this year and at least next year because we ate 2 scholarships this year and it's impossible for a team with a lame duck coach to recruit quality players.falconfan1 wrote:He doesn't. Does this?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

1. I would tell Henderson and Clarke they can't shoot until the MAC season until a post touches the ball first or I would pull them.
2. I would highly encourage Black and Holmes to shoot more.
3. I would play Demarkeo Lyshe as if he was on scholarship. And I would give him a scholarship.
4. I would burn Mayleben's redshirt knowing very well that even if he isn't ready he has the size to play today
5. I wouldn't barely play my backup PG and then complain about fatigue
6/Maybe. I would start Gomez and have him spot up and shoot a three one of the first 3 times down court. Even if he misses this would force the bigs out of the post more to cover him or Black or Holmes just because they know we can shoot now. it would force a change in their mindset.
7. I would run offensive plays

Pay attention to what's going on in the game and knowledge of basic rules. I counted at least THREE TIMES where he was late getting a substitute in. Holmes & Black EACH had to play an extra possession or two because a) he didn't know they picked up their 2nd/3rd foul, and waffled over who to put in for the player. Also, TWICE out of timeouts he was late getting a substitute in (after the horn) and it was (correctly) disallowed and yet he seemed confused. Embarrassing lack of awareness by a DIVISION ONE HEAD BASKETBALL COACH.

I noticed it a bit too but assumed he was just going to risk it with his guys.

He forgot he had Scott Thomas on his bench in a MAC Tournament game in Cleveland. If you want to become furious with the state of BGSU basketball, sit somewhere near the BG bench for a game.

Just updated some stats on Black and Holmes and it's clear that we have a very nice post defensive presence. If you were coach how would you utilize this?
