BG's inability to shoot in a nutshell

Never mind that we lost last night, or that Wisconsin is a Top-25 team....here's the stat of the night IMO: Wisconsin shot 60% (12-20) from THREE last night (BG made one three) while BG shot just 50% (7-14) from the FREE THROW line! The Badgers shot the ball better from farther away on contested shots (yes, most of them were actually contested) than we did standing by ourselves closer in without a defender in our face. And before anyone goes to look to see if Cam Black shot all 14 attempts for us, I'll save you the trouble, he didn't even take a free throw attempt. But our starting backcourt went 2-6 from the line.

Orr has preached (no pun intended) about playing inside out, but we have struggled mightily putting guys on the floor during his tenure who can shoot, particularly from outside. Rumor has it we have a guy who can, but your guess is as good as mine when we'll even see him play.

I have said it before but foul shouting is all muscle memory hard work and discipline. I could teach anyone on this board to shoot above fifty percent in a week

You couldn't teach them to do it under game conditions. I know guys that would make 8 of every ten in practice and shoot 40% when they're out of breath, tired and under game pressure. A little like the shooting segment of the biathlon.

Another game, another single three pointer made from BG. As pointed out, outscored by double figures by our football team!

While you guys are at it, take a look at the WOMEN'S 3 Pt. shooting tonite.....just a "bit" better than the guys.... I still remember the "midnite madness" of a couple/few yrs. ago when one of the ladies WON the 3pt. contest vs. the guys.... unfortunately, she left for Indiana with Curt Miller.

How far away is the women's three point line. 7 feet or so?

The men would still be screwed if they were allowed to shoot three pointers from 7 feet. Maybe if the net was 7 feet wide they could score over 60 points, but then they would get blown out by a 200 point margin in the process.

Doesn't decent shooting typically come with good players?

And don't good players typically get recruited when you have a good coach?

I think we've covered this ground.

Now all we need to happen is for the AD to fire the competent blob that's been on the end of the BG bench the past six years -- and get someone who knows what he's doing.

Yes, but it also comes from having open high percentage shots. A good offense will do that for you. What will also help increase your shooting percentage is if you take time to get better at shooting.

If God wanted our players to make shots, they would.
