What other needs do we need to fill? Most of the prospects are committed. What other positions should be a focus in recruiting?

Probably a "pure" pg, plus a BIG! And a shooter who can stretch the floor. Maybe we have that kid if he gets healthy, maybe not. Hambb probably can give a better take on this question, but we DO have some " unused" schol. Available.

We have 2 scholarships available still. A pure PG and a Center would be my targets.

The new coach will have more than 2 scholarships to work with. Hopefully about 5.

How do you figure? Are you assuming Denny, Mayleben, Gomez and/or Chauncey will leave?

Hoping. I'm not a fan of redshirting in college basketball at all. Not worth the time in most instances. Especially if you can't finish .500 most years. I'd rather take on any and all transfers I can get. Half my roster would be transfers, half recruited players. If the freshman don't play within 2 years, they should probably be on another team by the junior year. College basketball has changed. One player can make the difference. The sport allows you to weed out your "misses" in recruiting. Get rid of them and get bigger schools "misses". The MAC has changed. You can't just try to recruit and develop a championship roster without more turnover these days. Just my opinion.

I share your opinion almost 100%. I think you can redshirt and develop guys but rarely will a guy that redshirts become a major player for your program.

I'm with you as well. If we are not winning NOW, we don't have any business "growing" players in a de facto farm system. Further, when was the last time we saw a 6-10 "project" that redshirted and went on to become a player worth having? The only player in my recollection in John Edwards from Kent State, and he was 7-3.

Globe, I just don't see Chauncey staying at the program after his father leaves. His can transfer to either a) a DI school that needs a solid role player, or b) a good DII program.
I fully expect a new coach to run off Gomez and Mayleben. When I think about next year, this is the scholarship roster I expect:
1. Sealey (redshirt this year)
2. Holmes
3. Henderson
4. Clarke
5. Spencer
6. Tisdale
7. Denny
8. Edwards
...this would leave 5 scholarships for the new coach to work with.

I wouldn't be too surprised if you were right. However, I don't see a better opportunity for Orr. I think Gomez is serviceable as well.

Kevin Netter.

Netter was the name I was gonna grab too. He redshirted and while he never was the player some had hoped for he was a productive and useful player. And my god could he run the floor for a guy his size. He was a goofy guy (fun to talk to), and was fun as hell to watch play.
Sealey played yesterday, which I'm pretty sure means he cannot redshirt so he's done after this year.
